Just wear it. Unless you're hiring a prostitute, going to seedy bars or clubs late at night or walking down deserted alleyways you will be fine. These cruise ships go to tourist destinations, not Juarez.
I have been on 16 cruises and always take my watches. I have worn Rolex watches in Mexico, Cuba, Haiti, Aruba, Jamaica, Spain, France, Italy and other places. You will be fine as long as you are somewhat responsible. I would feel less comfortable wearing my watch to a McDonald's or gas station on the wrong side of my small town in North Carolina (not to mention crime ridden areas of New York, Chicago or Las Vegas) than I would in a resort area in Mexico.
