RO retaining value?

Been waiting for a blue dial 15400 (despite discontinuation rumors my AD can apparently get me one) but I am wondering on its capacity to retain value over the years.
It is a big purchase for me, which comes to mark a particular life event.
However If circumstances require me to get rid of it, would it hold its value like a Rolex can for instance?
The fact that all RO SS are getting scratches easily makes me have doubts.
