I've created a monster!!

It's not as bad as the title but i feel I must shoulder the blame !!

As some of you know I bought my son for his 18th birthday a brand new Z series GMT II Pepsi. It looks absolutely fabulous and is his favourite watch. He also owns a Rolex Date with grey dial that was passed onto him just before his mum passed away.

Recently he has begun complaining that all I do is either spend time on this forum or talking about watches. I explained to him that this site is a wealth of knowledge for watch affectionados and that I'm discovering new things every day. Such as, it's incredibly easy to change the insert on his GMT either at an RSC or by doing it oneself.

Well no sooner had I said it, when he's on the phone to RSC St James Sq. £22.50 + vat (15%) for a new insert fitted. All week he's been planning to take a half day off from work and pay a visit to RSC. Today was the day!! He has phoned me now 5 times to tell me how stunning the RSC building is, how helpful the techs were and how cheap he thinks the whole process was.

He paid the £22.50 and 10 mins later they returned his watch with a brand new black insert that apparently looks stunning. They tightened his clasp as they noticed it was ever so slightly loose. The gave the watch a quick clean (not a polish), returned to him his original insert in a steel case and promised him that should he EVER want to swap them over again just to pop in and they'll do it for him completely free of charge.

Basically in the last week or two all my son is talking about is Rolex and what a great new watch he basically has, will have and now has etc etc etc.

And so the MONSTER is born!!!

I want my old son back, the one who left his dirty pants everywhere, didn't tidy up, didn't put the toilet seat down and thought I was the weirdo who spent too much time with all you guys and gals on this site!!!

Where has that young man gone and why oh why did I introduce him to Rolex and TRF ???
