Rome
Hello TRF,
It was my 40th yesterday and my wife had more recently surprised me with telling me she was taking me to Rome for 3 nights for my birthday. This was in addition to having bought me my DJ41 as an early birthday present at the end of last year. She had booked an amazing hotel and also arranged a bit of an itinerary to see some of the main sights whilst we were there. We got lucky with the weather as they just had a warm bust over the weekend and we were greeted with weather that was 22 degrees. We saw some amazing things and ate some of the best pasta and pizza I’ve ever tried before. The night of my actual birthday was made even better when we saw the cast of the series ‘Gomorrah’ in the street outside the restaurant we were eating at. I have never been star struck before, until then, when I literally ran out of the restaurant in the hope of getting my picture taken with them. Unfortunately, I just missed them - they were ushered away in to their waiting cars. I had planned on visiting a couple of the Rolex stores when we went to see the Trevi Fountain but we’d chosen the Sunday when they were all shut. When we got to the airport on the way home, amongst all the excellent shops they had there, they had a Rolex store. It was closed temporarily and the sign in the window explained it was whilst they were carrying out inventory check. I spoke to the woman through the shutters who told me to come back in 15 mins and all I thought to myself was that maybe inventory checking meant they’d just taken a delivery - I literally sat there waiting in the hope that they may have a Daytona. I had lunch with my wife and then rushed back as they had opened. Only to find, they had a whole store and only 5-6 watches in stock. They had literally one white gold blue Sub. A DJ34 SS, a DJ36 TT, and a DJ41 TT and the others were random diamond encrusted pieces which I didn’t even look at. The lady explained that they don’t get any Daytona’s or other sports models sent to them and that they were waiting for some more stock. Bad situation there. Here are some photos from the trip. |
