Trading Based on Market Value

So many threads these days based on recent trends in market value and flipping to be able to get essentially a more expensive watch. It really begs a fundamental question of why we enjoy and collect our watches?

I loved the look of a Rolex sub for as long as I can remember. I am now lucky enough to own both a sub and a GMT. Then came many others purely based on aesthetics and appeal such as daytona and other brands in my signature.

Is all that out the window now that my watches are worth more? Just because I can use the current market to get myself into a PM? I think many with this mentality will be left feeling empty when all the dust settles because they will truly miss what got them into watches in the first place.

Just my 2 cents. Thoughts welcomed!
