Poor offer from AD - UK.
I am currently on the look-out for a Mid-size SS Date with some bling for my long-suffering girlfriend.
Having not had much joy from my threads on here; I went down to my local Stealer yesterday to see what he had and what sort of deal may be on the table, remembering that I had bought 2 watches from him last year (GMT2 and Blue Sub). I called, made him aware of the nature of my enquiry, made the appointment, and Clare and I turned up at the arranged time. To cut a long story short, we were looking at items for around the 4.5k GBP mark. I asked what kind of discount I could expect for a cash sale, to be told..............zero. No money off for cash! He said that because I was an Ex-Pat, I could claim the Tax back. I told him that I fully intended to claim the tax back on the reduced figure which I was wanting in the region of 3.8 to 3.9k GBP. No deal. He simply would not move. Is this indicative of Dealers at this time or is Aberdeen bucking the National trend? I was really looking for 15 - 20% off for a cash deal. Was I expecting too much? All thoughts greatly appreciated. All pointers to a nice Stainless Mid-size with some bling also greatly appreciated. Colin. |
