A Presidential Incoming!

It's taken me many years to get to this point, but I finally did it! Ever since I started watch collecting, the Daydate on President bracelet has been the one that I would always think of first when I thought of Rolex.

I thought long and hard about the gold colour and dial I've wanted. One of the benefits (and a pitfall) of the DD lineup is simply the amount of choice available. One day I would want WG and not YG. Then it would be RG or Platinum. Then it would be the YG. Kept going back and forth between gold colours and decided to go with the YG as it's a true classic, albeit rather flashy and a more decidedly more "mature" look. I keep thinking of the classic DD as being in YG, and my first DD had to be in YG! Either way, I really think it is hard to go wrong.

Then came the dial choice. Again, I think there is truly no wrong answer as they are all stunning in their own right. I was divided between the silver motif dial or the black motif dial. I chose the black motif dial this time because of the right opportunity, and I am glad I did so. It seems to be one of the less commonly loved dials on the YG (champagne or silver seems to get more love), but I think the beauty of the black motif dial is very hard to capture in pictures. In some lighting, the pure black is reminiscent of the Onyx dials in the past, while in others, it really glimmers with a very subtle diagonal motif and sunburst pattern. The contrast against the YG metal is simply stunning, and in my view, it keeps it classy, while being a tad bit sportier than the white/champagne dials.

The heft is something I've gotten used to within a day or two - at first it was noticeably heavier. The President bracelet is very comfortable in the way it drapes around the wrist. However, in a perfect world, there would be some form of microadjustment, which I've been spoiled by on the Easylink/Glidelock clasps, but I guess that's the cost of the elegant hidden clasp. It has to be sized right as wearing it too loose would be uncomfortable and sloppy given the heavy case.

This is a piece that will admittedly only be an occasional wearer for me. It is very loud and can be considered obnoxious in some settings. Now I know some are of the view that you should wear whatever and not care what others think, but I still remain somewhat self conscious wearing a bold, full gold piece like this. But in the right time and scenario, this piece is just perfect.

Anyways, enough talk, and on to some photos. Hope you all enjoy.
