Incoming...First Rolex

Picked up my first Rolex today from an AD...So excited. I feel like a little boy full of joy.

I was never one who saw any value or pleasure in luxury watches. Always thought they were a waste of money. People's entire want for a Rolex by a certain age or accomplishment always baffled me.

I had a collection of watches consisting of 5 Movados, 1 D&G , 2 G -shocks, 1 Aviator, 2 Citizen, 2 Hugo Boss. But i wouldn't consider myself a collector of any sort. they were just watches that suited me depending on how i was dressing or where i was going. Most expensive one of the collection was $1500 at most. No particular attachment to any of them.

Fast forward to few months ago. My storage locker was broken into and all my watches were stolen except one.

My quest to replenish my stock led me to researching watches and it made me pay attention to Rolex, AP, Patek and other luxury brands. For some reason (other than the Social Status), I got hooked. The technical aspect of these brands wowed me and I found this forum as I broaden my horizon. The community got me in deeper. Loved the vibe of the forums.

I was borderline obsessed at this point and had a new perspective. I Fell in love with a few models and watched lots of videos but never held one in real life. I decided i wanted a 5 watch collection over a period of 5yrs: A SS DJ41 fluted bezel with blue dial, A Submariner Bluesy, a YG DD 41, SS 15500 AP and a PP Nautilus. (Of course this is not set in stone as i like the Hulk and a few others).

I proceeded to call a few ADs around me. Scarcity confirmed.
Decided to visit one of the ADs and spoke with a nice lady who gave me attention despite me literally being dressed like a bum. Luckily, she had a Bluesy in stock and upon seeing one for the very first time, i was hooked. She was shocked when i offered to buy it. I Left a deposit on it and told her I will pick it up a few weeks (i Wanted it to coincide with my bday PLUS i just wanted to make sure it wasn't simply an infatuation and I was really in love with this $17,000 watch).

We also talked about my admiration for the DJ41 with blue dial and fluted bezel as a dress watch and how I would love that in my collection too. She said that config would be hard as there is a waitlist for it. Overall great experience that at the AD.
Few days ago, she texts me a pic of a DJ41 and asked if i wanted to come see it. I went and fell for it. I loved it lol. Put a deposit on it and offered to pick it up today.

My excitement couldn't be contained as I counted down the days like a boy kid looking forward to Xmas. Still cant believe am spending $30,000 on two watches in a span of weeks. Makes me a little scared in an exciting way...but hey YOLO. She also gave me a lovely blue tie as a gift. Albeit, i am not one who cares much for AD experience I had a Very great first experience.

Anyways, enough with the long story. Here are some pics.
