This is just a regular service, no out of the ordinary parts needed replacing. The seconds gear and chronograph wheel were still of the 'old style' and need to be replaced for the updated version.

The driving wheel for ratchet is worn to shreds... This transfers the energy from the automatic module into the mainspring (casually explained).

These are the kinds of threads that fascinate me.

I'm wondering how exactly you go about your work when you disassemble everything. For example, when looking at your pictures in your first few posts, are the disassembled parts placed in any sort of order of operation/assembly?

It's great seeing all the intricate parts, but I'm even more interested in your approach and even protocols as a professional in your line of work, while you service these beautiful watches.

Yes there's definitely a certain order you need to follow when disassembling a movement

Another awesome and interesting thread !!

Thank you for sharing the kind of content I joined this forum for.

Slightly biased but very much hope a DSSD (116660) may make this list too in the future would be very interested to see that also.

Thanks again

just wow... thanks for the detailed post.
Was that worn as a daily beater? Looks well-used and loved ;-)

PS. I have more appreciation for the costs of servicing now...

Thanks!

No idea, it was pretty beat up so could have been a daily beater for sure.

Great info and pictures, thanks! The owner wasn’t interested in a new dial ? Large selection of dials with this model! Althought the black dial and red hands combine rather cool i do think these “charcoal” dials are a little boring...

Thanks!

I did it with a lapping machine, you can't take all the deeper scratches out since you would remove the numbers as well, but it looks better than before

Hi Bas

Do you have any photos of a 116519 without the end links fitted?

I know that the end link fits under the bezel, but I would like to see the size of the gap under the bezel when the end links are removed.

Also, do you know if the spring bar holes are in the same place in the 116519 as they are in the 116509 cases?

Thanks

Thanks for this.

This is a 16519 isn’t it. I know the pusher’s angles are different to those in the 116519, do you know if there are any other differences?

I have a 116519 but I’m getting sick of the end links. I’m wondering if the end links are removed, will the gap this would leave under the bezel be very noticeable?

I often wish I’d bought a 116509 instead and just removed the bracelet with the end links and fitted a strap instead.

Thanks for this amazing thread Bas.

Quick question, how much weight/gold would you estimate the polish takes off the watch?

And is it true that compared to platinum basically the platinum has less, more minimal metal loss with each polish? Thanks!
