Scarcity even affecting older DJ prices
Just love the silver stick dial.
So I wanted to buy a current model 36mm Datejust smooth bezel TT with a silver stick dial. That would be a 126203 I believe. Rolex makes a 34mm and 41mm TT DJ with a silver stick dial and even a 36mm in steel with the silver stick dial. But 36mm TT . . . heck NO! But! My AD had a BNIB older 36mm DJ TT 116203 configured exactly like I wanted. MSRP $10,300. Now the current 36mm DJ with the new 3235 movement and configured with a white stick dial is only $200 more at MSRP $10,500. I've purchased three Rolex from this AD so if I pointed out the small price difference between the old and new they would surely discount the older 116203. If 10% off I'd buy. THEY WOULDN'T BUDGE . . . full retail!! ON AN OLDER DJ!?! Guess I'm a bit naive as to current pricing/discounts but I was very surprised!

$10,300 USD for a used DJ? You oughta try one of the trusted sellers on here.

Go back in three months. It will still be there, and I bet you will get a deal then. |

In the summer my AD said Rolex authorized them to discount all DJ’s with the old movement including the SS models and it was high.... more than you can count on fingers and toes.

The old ones have the hidden clasp and I think that is driving the price of the old one up because people still want that. To be honest if I wore my watch a little lose or if I never needed the easy link I would definitely get the hidden clasp on jubilee. If it’s a oyster then you have to gamble that they will release the silver dial on the two tone dj36.

Exactly. It is a sellers market and sellers will look for the maximum profit on every watch for sale. "Scarcity" is a nonsense word. These are watches. Not food, water, gasoline or other life essential items.
