Should I go gray or wait for the call

So, I’ve got into the good books of the AD by getting a Lady DJ for my wife. I’ve told him I will need a Sub. He said he will as soon as he gets something. I also see some of you are tired waiting and pulled the trigger by going to gray market with reputable sources through Chrono 24. Should I wait or go gray?

Just wait, a sub will pop up and when it does you'll be thankful that you bought it through the proper channels at MSRP.

Should I go gray or wait for the call

If the Nats lose Game 7, go grey.

If they run the table and win the WS on the road, then wait for your AD...because you’re in DC and the luck is with youse.

A black sub isn’t hard to find. I was offered one on 3 different occasions by 2 separate AD. I turned them all down because I wanted a Hulk. I would wait if I were you.

Agreed that a black sub should come around. I would give yourself a time period and if you don’t get a call just pull the trigger on grey. Premiums aren’t bad. But there is something to having your name on that warranty card.

Depends how bad you want it. Since you made a purchase I'd stay on him hard now so you may have a shot to beat the Christmas rush. Good Luck..

I went grey and got close enough to MSRP to where I’m not losing sleep. If you need it fast go grey, if not than wait.

FWIW, for that you don't need an AD.
I buy almost always grey, fully stickered and my name on the papers with next day delivery.
Hate to get coerced in bundling deals or any other nonsense.

Buying from a TS is a lot easier and much more pleasurable than from an AD with all the ...kissing involved and desperately trying to establish a relationship.

My character does not allow for that.

I would wait. Shouldn’t take too long. In fact, my guess is they have 1 in the safe now. If not many ADs see a near year-end shipment (and/or 1 just after). The benefit to waiting is it’s another step in building a relationship with them for if/when you want to source another tougher to get watch.

Welcome to the forum and congrats to your wife on the DJ.

Did the AD say how long it might be?

I assume that you will pay full retail and sales tax. Figure that number and see what you can get the watch for from one of our Trusted Sellers. I would believe the number will be very close and if it is, I would go Grey and have it by tomorrow morning at 1030 and be wearing it by lunch. I would tell my AD that I am interested in a SS Daytona-C or BLNR, BLRO or Hulk. Put it back on them and keep your leverage.

Thanks all. I’m not in a hurry as I just bought a BB41. Moreover my AD is very nice and he kept me honest all the time. Will wait for some more time before pulling the trigger.

The one my wife ordered is not in stock... need to wait 4-6 weeks to get it delivered, still he gave me some deal. Didn’t pay MSRP😀. Hoping it won’t take much time for the sub.

Should you pay 2-3k more then MSRP for a mass produced watch... seems like a easy question. The only way I’d buy grey is when there prices go back to under MSRP like the good old days. Why anyone would pay over msrp for a grey watch is absolutely crazy to me, it’s all hype and FOMO. And it just keeps feeding these greedy grey dealers. These watches are not rare.

Did he give you time frame? A lot of ADs have changed the information system in regards to arrival time frames. And a sub, your AD should be able to give you a realistic ETA. Personally I’d be willing to wait half a year, if not arriving in 6 months time I’d just go gray.

I’d also skip chrono24 and try to buy from Takuya.

You could have bought your wife’s dj from grey for less than msrp and apply that difference to your sub from grey as well.

Sit tight and get from the AD. The wait is part of the fun.
