Don't do it if you love the 3 pieces you have. I think you'll regret that trade. However, it would make sense to keep the SS sub and trade the other two plus cash as others have suggested.

I agree.
You said that you value those watches. Chances are you will try to replace them later. I have gone through that experience.

Do what makes you happy. This hobby is riddled with these types of decisions that many ‘face’ daily.

Only consideration I’d add - is second what Danny mentioned in recommending keeping one Stainless reference. Not necessary by any stretch - as PM is easily worn daily as many will attest to - just sometimes a nice change.

Good luck!

I totally agree with this too.

I would not do that trade. President is great, but not better than those 3 you have there. If you really must have it, I recommend what others have already suggested: Keep one (I vote one of the subs), sell the other two, and pony up the rest of the cash

Why do you want a PM DD?? What is your lifestyle? That might help with a educated perspective.

The DD is certainly as tough as any SS watch and even more corrosion resistant not that that matters.
The issue is most feel funny actually wearing such a watch in every activity. Then they end up taking it off and wearing a beater. In the end they find themself wearing a crappy watch more to preserve their PM watch. The personality that truly won’t care how much abuse their $40k watch takes is very rare.

Keep what you got. That Datejust is beautiful and already covers your need for a dress watch. If you have to have a President keep one Sub, trade the other rwo.

if you don't have a SS piece left then i def would not do this deal. Keep at least one of three, preferably the SS sub.

Watch folks toy with ideas all the time. You stated that you dearly love all 3 of your current watches. So why do you want to trade?

Is the YG President a grail watch? Do you want to become a 1 watch guy? Do you need to sell the current watches to afford the new watch?

The answer to those questions will help you make the right decision.

I am in a very similar situation,

In my mind it comes down to:
- Do you like the idea of having one watch? i.e. all the flair associated with being a one watch guy?
- Do you feel comfortable wearing your DD40 everywhere? (and if you can't do you feel comfortable not wearing anything, or a seiko?)

Hey guys thanks for all the responses. My lifestyle consists of me being in a suit for 10-12 hours a day. I do believe part of me will miss my bluesy because that watch gets the most wrist time out of the 3. However if I had the DD, I don’t believe any of these watches would get any wrist time. Maybe once in a blue moon. I can see how you guys would say to keep a steel model, and that makes sense, the only time I’d take my day date off is if I were to go hiking with my dog, etc. events that the watch could get beat up, I’d be able to wear my sub. I’ve just read things that people end up regretting getting rid of their watches. But my lifestyle is basically consisted of desk surfing and talking to people. Have always eyed the DD and would love to have it on my wrist, but I’m just not entirely sure if I should do it at the expense of my collection.

These 2 statements cancel each other out.

Personally, I would keep what I already have and just add.

Keep the DJ, trade the subs for a yellow gold blue dial sub. Then you have the best of both worlds.

Whatever you do, don’t get an all gold watch as your only piece. It is not a daily wearer and you will need something in steel.

I am also partial to the YG sub blue dial. Not anything like it IMHO

I have a five digit DD 18238 and love it. I'm certain that there is some advantage to having the newer model but I just can't see the pricing justify it. What is the reason that the newer ones are twice as expensive. For me it seems it's newer is better mentality.

I'm always curious when people say that. Do you mean the watch is too delicate to wear daily (i.e. you might damage it or something), or do you mean the wearer will likely not feel comfortable wearing a gold watch everyday.

I would try to save up the money for the DD to keep what you have. I am wanting a DD too and I will have to wear a suit everyday with my new job. It will look great.

If you go for the DD, I would keep a SS sub. I would also opt for a mid-late 70’s white gold DD. The modern ones are too flashy for my taste.

I think that this is the most important part of the OP's post. Why would you let '3 watches that you love dearly' leave your possession for a single watch?

Save up and buy the other watch, don't get rid of the others you'll regret it

I just realized that you're probably from Miami, in which case I agree, the day date will look awesome

Also, given your location, I'd probably keep that bluesy too! There's no Rolex more "miami" than a two tone Bluesy
