Does anyone notice your watch?

Do many people notice or comment on your watch?

I wear an Explorer Mk2 that I bought new in April 2019. I wear it everyday (I've converted to be one watch guy but that's another topic for another thread).

Outside of my family, only one person in all that time has noticed my watch. I realize the Explorer is known for flying under the radar. This was part of the appeal for me as the Mk2 was intended to be the only watch I wear. Perhaps a Daytona or Day Date would garner more attention and I'm quite sure those of you who own such models can comment on that.

I know that we as watch junkies are always looking at other people's wrists. The general public just doesn't notice your watch.

Thanks for reading.

No, unless they are a watch dealer trying to sell me something.

No one notices or cares, most people could not distinguish between brands if they tried. That is if they look up from their phones long enough . . .

Someone at the poker room commented on how he liked my GMT. So far wearing it for two month 1 person commented but I have seen a few people glance at it without saying anything.

nobody cares man.

I wear full gold Daydates and Skydwellers every single day. The only comment I got was on my Panerai and out of all people it was a woman saying its a nice design. LOL

Once. An elderly lady in the supermarket told me my DJ was, "lovely." It is.

My 14270 no one ever noticed except the attendant at the Tudor dealer when I took it off to try on a BB58. When I wear my 16710 I can for sure tell that some people glance at it. But quite possibly only because it's Red and Blue and shiny.

Some have commented, I could count them on one hand those who did.

This is what I was referring to above. This happens to me more frequently when I'm wearing my Sub than it does when I'm wearing my Explorer. It almost never happens with the Explorer.

As far as people actually commenting? I think that's happened to me roughly two times in the past year plus.

Honestly most do not care.

I have had one person compliment my BLNR and then Omega.

I will sometimes say nice watch as most watch folks will notice others Mx. Some will say thanks and you can tell they really have no interest to talk which is fine, and then others will strike up a conversation.

My advice to you is to wear a Rolex hat. If it does not work, try wearing a Rolex T-shirt too. Perhaps it will get your wrist more attention ;)

Twice in my life as far as I can recall. Once a Tag, once a Rolex. This excludes visits to dealers, where such behaviour is expected and accepted from both SAs and customers.

Nobody has noticed my Datejust.

Actually I think a few of my students have asked “mister is that a Rolex?”

But that’s about it

I’ve never had a “WIS” notice it

From a complete stranger only my GV Milguass. And my Heuer Autavia.

The only other times I've had a stranger comment on my watch is when they are wearing a luxury watch themselves.

I've had my 16710 for approximately 10 months and probably had half a dozen people comment on it during that time.

I get comments on my panerai pretty often, but almost never on any Rolex, although I do catch people checking them out. I feel like people are uncomfortable making comments after they notice it’s an expensive watch—with the Panerai, most people have no idea what it is or how expensive it is, so they usually make a comment or ask what kind of watch I’m wearing!

I notice my watches... that's all the matters.
I think a lot of folks notice but just say anything... I see people starring all the time

If you wearing it to get noticed, prepare to be disappointed. Very few people actually care about what watch you are wearing

In the last ten years the only time I received a comment was from a furniture salesman who was trying to sell me for my office a height adjustable desk notices my Nomos tangomat. That’s it. Literally no one else has noticed anything. For me this is absolutely fine.

Noticing and commenting are two completely different things.

How often do you comment on things you notice?

Never hearing a comment shows nothing about what has or hasn't been noticed.

The Z Blue Milgauss is without a doubt the most commented on Rolex I have ever owned.

My Patek 5124G has gotten many comments about how beautiful it is.

I notice all watches. In the poolbar in Panama, a guy was wearing a black SkyDweller. I said (after several drinks) nice Seiko. He looked at me and said ...uh..uh, it is not a Seiko. I said I know...just kidding. Then we talked about Rolexes for 20 minutes and how he already checked the Panama Airport Rolex dealer and they had no steel watches.

No offense intended but do you want your watch to be noticed? I find that if I’m discreet then no one says anything.

No.

Maybe once in a blue moon. But usually even my colleagues who I notice wear nice watches don’t.

Everyone is typically too preoccupied with their own lives to care about the watch you are wearing.
