$6K difference

Its about $6K difference between a 2019 slightly used SS Daytona and a 2019 slightly used 2019 slightly used Smurf. "Wow" was first thought. Id love to hear some thoughts on this..

Don’t forget “wow, $10,000 for a wrist watch” in general.

Hype-thats it. But if people want to blow there money, that's on them. Gotta have the latest and greatest on insta-so for many-likely the majority they need the "it watch" on their wrist for the bragging rights and likes on the gram.

"Value" is a subjective matter.

(I'm assuming you are not buying the watch because you want to sell it later)

You might be thinking that a smurf is so much better than a daytona, but someone else might be thinking that the smurf is just too big, and the daytona has so much more "heritage".... all subjective.

This.

Please stop trying to "make sense" out of spending that much money for a watch. None of this makes any "sense".

this and this

The PM models seems to be flat or sometimes even good bit less then MSRP which does make them very appealing given the current market prices for comparable SS models.

Agreed. These are all emotional decisions that some try to back up with highly rationalized “logic”...emphasis on the quotes

Some might infer it was all part of a grand plan at Geneva to improve sales of PM models...I have no idea but conspiracy theorists might say that.

Yeah this is nuts. I would say this is “the instagram effect” as we all know these new hype chasers seemed to have stuck onto Rolex as a brand and ran off with it faster than ever. I can’t even fathom having PM money and then spending it on an SS watch and that’s coming from someone who would call a ceramic Daytona a grail it’s still an SS grail, each to their own of course.

$6K difference

SS is what majority of people want these days and how much value is the gold content of a watch is probably $3,500 to $4,000. Sure it is a big margin business for bundling with the SS pro models.

Personally never liked the Daytona and would take a Smurf or sub.

The smurf is super nice. The square case of the smurf vs the Daytona’s perfectly shaped and contoured case (my opinion) makes this decision way more difficult than it should be.

All the more reason to get the Smurf. It's better watch anyway.

They are both nice watches. For a casual observer the Smurf just looks like a blue submariner (the WG looks like SS).

I have a couple of subs already....so simply put....I would opt for the Daytona over the Smurf and put the 6K in my pocket.

I have a TT yellow/black subC and a PM Daytona. Both are great in their own respects. Love them both equally!
