Yacht-Master 40/42mm Oysterflex (126655/226659) Glidelock Settings
Hi all,
For those who have the YM RG/WG 40/42 on Oysterflex with the Glidelock clasp, what do you have your optimal setting sized at? Glidelock on the tightest setting or in the middle? I recently had my 126655 bracelet sized and it seemed to fit great given my limited wrist time (RSC damaged case). The one thing I noticed, I had to wear it on the tightest setting (Glidelock all the way in with no visible notches shown). With the Glidelock on any other notch it would be too loose for my wrist. I had them swap to a smaller Oysterflex bracelet and now my optimal position is the middle setting on the Glidelock, so I have some flexibility to adjust larger or smaller like a belt. I figured this method would be best to take advantage of the updated clasp with Glidelock? I’ve heard with the previous gen (116655) it was difficult to get an optimal fit, and not to mention you can’t simply add a link like a regular traditional bracelet. |

Hey, i've been following you other thread as I also have a 126655 but with not 1 but 3 nicks on the lugs thanks to the fitting process.
I have mine set to the second smallest setting. I currently have an F on my 12 side, when it was an E, I was on the second last on the clasp. The thing is with the YM the glidelock is about 15mm of adjustment not 20mm like the original version and each strap size change is 10mm. For this reason sizing from the middle might not work. I got my AD to change from E to F because I'd rather have options to lengthen vs shorten. This last strap changed resulted in the worse nick on the lug -_-... I'm not buying oysterflex again but I must say it's the most comfortable watch I have. I'm going to wear and abuse the watch so I got over it but it really pissed me off at the time. |

In my case, I had “F” on my 12 o’clock and “D” on the 6 o’clock originally. The RSC swapped the 12 o’clock to “E”, so now my optimal setting sits in the middle of the Glidelock and I have some adjustment both ways. My concern was with keeping the original setup is if I ever needed to tighten, I wouldn’t be able to since I was already on the tightest setting. I don't think I’ll need that much adjustability to go larger as I won't be wearing this over a dive or wet suit. Not to mention, I didn’t want to risk case damage again down the road should I ever need to swap to another Oysterflex size in order to tighten. Overall, it seems to be very dependent on one's wrist size and preferences. I was just curious how Oysterflex owners w/ Glidelock set theirs when it comes to their optimal setting. |

Your wrist about 6.5? I’m d-f too with the d-e combo that works.
For sub and sea dwellers owners I believe they set it near the middle for the exact reason you said. Because they are 20mm glidelock you can absolutely do this. If my d-e setting gave me two more adjustments outwards I would stuck to it but for me it had me set at the second last. The key issue for me is every now and then I let my dad take my watches. He would max out on the d-e combo. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

....if RSC does the strap switch, have they been known to scratch the case. Was thinking of taking mine to RDC Dallas for a swap. Now I’m undecided

Jabbo if you search the forums it’s not funny how many oysterflex owners have had this issue. I’ve told myself it’s part of the pleasure of owning one -_-... What I definitely not compromising on was the clasp being in the wrong spot on the underside of my wrist. At the 10 year mark my watch will go in for a service and polish anyway so yeah for me I got over it but there is a risk of them screwing this up for you. Infect is pretty likely. I can only imagine how many owners out there who simply didn’t notice. The forums do have a fussy subset of owners. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
