Tudor vs Rolex
A couple of weeks ago I was at Nymans in Stockholm to squeeze on the JLC Reverso Classique. It took time for the seller to find Classique so I took a look at other watches.
Tudor, so called the bells I stuck with my eyes on. I had seen some Tudor on the forum but, as a freshman, I was only interested in Rolex. I have pulled out wisdom teeth so there is not much to do besides playing FIFA and reading about watches. So I decided to read about Tudor. Some models I got stuck on: Tudor Sub Snowflake Tudor Mini-Sub Tudor Black Bay Tudor Pelagos Do the members of the forum have any experience and other things about Tudor in general and the models in particular? Feels like Tudor is the watches "nobody" has while "everyone" has Rolex. Hit me! |

Does Tudor make a Submariner right now? I like Subs.
I have a few Rolex Submariners and recently sold my BLRN and bought a red Tudor Black Bay. Now I'm looking for a Tudor GMT, but if they have a Sub available, I might go that route. |

I really enjoy the vintage Tudors. Here is a pic of my blue Submariner Snowflake from the late 1970's

Tudor vs Rolex
Current Tudor flagship line is the BlackBay. The design is based on vintage Tudor Submariners. Specifically the Tudor prince submariner 7922
Tudor Black Bay ETA 79220 Tudor Submariner 7922 (Tudor website) The second generation of the Black Bays now come equipped with chronometer grade Tudor in house movements, the MT 5602 which is based on their first in house movement used in the Tudor North Flag, the MT 5621. Tudor North Flag (Pinterest) They went missing from the American market for a period of time due to abysmal sales. They made a huge comeback in 2012 with the launch of their Heritage Chrono line, also based on a vintage reference. Tudor Heritage Chrono (Tudor website) Ever since then they have stuck to their theme of vintage inspired watches. You don’t really see them on the wrists of lay people because it is a niche brand. Tudor can’t be compared to Rolex because of the wide variation in price points. Quality wise, modern Tudor watches are very well constructed and robust. There are minor functional aspects missing but they are well worth the money at their price point. If you want a Rolex, get a Rolex. If you want a Tudor, get a Tudor. You will find that there are many members on the forum who own and love both. |

The Pelagos is a cracking watch. It’s arguably the best bang for buck diver out there. It comes complete with 2 straps, rubber and a titanium bracelet that has a S/S clasp that itself is a work of art. I have a blue and about to buy a black too. I also have a BB GMT (Without the date issue). My Rolex Deepsea JC is good but you could have 3 Pelagos for the price. The Pelagos wears quite large but it’s light due to titanium.

You'll find lots of Tudor lovers here and others that say it's just settling for a cheaper watch than a Rolex.
Rolex although tough to buy a lot of models lately hold their value far better than a Tudor and some people buy them and don't fall in love and end up selling them. Other say that they are just as good as Rolex. A lot of people on the Rolex site these days are pretty disappointed and some bitter at the whole supply and demand thing going on now and buy a Tudor or Omega instead. Bottom line, buy what you like and moves you, or save and move up to something else. |

I have both Tudor and Rolex.
My experience is that Tudor is so much watch for the money, and I mean so so much. The vintage look and color hues Tudor uses is spot On. The in house movement is as precise and accurate as Rolex if not a bit more. Tudor is a bargain for what it really is. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

My wife has a mini-sub. It's a great vintage piece all made by Rolex apart from the movement.

I own a couple of Rolex watches and a Tudor Black Bay Blue. I absolutely love that watch, I highly recommend you go to an AD and give them a serious look.

I took my BLNR off to use my P01 on a trip and I am using my bezel to give myself timezones awareness...I can't call it a GMT but it does the trick I'm the states.
I can say I live all modern Tudor's but the BB58 and P01 really caught my eye. If you go with a Tudor the BB58 with metal bracelet is what I would buy first. And I would wait for a BB58 GMT to come out for your next Tudor. The only vintage Tudor I would pick up is the blue 79190. Stick with 40mm subs...don't bother with the smaller ones. While you wait for the BB58 GMT try to pick up a white Dial 42mm Explorer 2. This is still something you can buy at an AD with not too much wait; it's a lot if watch for the money. Buy this from the same AD you purchased the BB58 from. It will give great contrast to the Tudor Black or Blue dials. Good luck |

I agree with everyone else - Tudor offers excellent value, and equally important is that with Tudor you get access to Rolex's service centers, which means Rolex level after-service.
