I'm reading an interesting book about a writer who traveled around chatting with successful people about Their Story and the secrets to their success.

I find it interesting to hear people's gems of wisdom..... whether it be Marry Rich, or Hard Work, or cheat or what ever........

i am not afraid to make decisions specially the tough ones, i am a risk taker, i think outside the box and the norm, i believe in the kaizen program. and the most important one i don't trust anyone

It helped me to dismiss my mother's advice that it's just as easy to love a rich man as a poor one. That was about the stupidest thing a mother could say to her daughter, so I guess I give myself credit that I learned early on to think critically, try to understand my own motives and goals and make decisions that were my own and not what my parents wanted me to make.

Money is important for paying the bills but it doesn't equate to happiness. Sure it can buy you material goods and security in old age but is it really satisfying? As I've have gotten older I have structured my life toward attaining peace and serenity through spiritual principles. If you are not happy you effect everyone around you as well as your family. If you follow your heart and respect those around you with honesty and integrity your life will be richer and more fulfilling!!!

So I ask everyone are you happy???

Success as in all things in life is relative and one persons success is another's failure. The secret to success is not judging your "success" by others but being confidant in your own abilities and making the most of them and being happy with the result.

For financial success, it's easy. Have a strong work ethic and live below your means.

For personal success, it's much more elusive. I guess be true to yourself and be willing to reach for your dreams.

And always, always treat others with integrity.

It's extremely sad and narrow minded that in today's world success is always linked with the financial success that somebody has.

That's just my humble opinion though.

Success is different for everyone. Is sucess money, power, control?

Sucess to me is having my loved ones love me. Sucess is making people happy, Sucess is keeping people off of drugs and away from things which bring harm, pain and sadness.

I take an eastern view on things/objects we collect: you can not take them with you and what (objects) you love today you will hate or care for less in the future. IMHO

Business.....Being around and learning from succesful people while having a strong moral code and strong work ethic.

Wow great responses...... it is the members that make this forum top-notch (ImHO).....

Very insightful.... and real responses.

A friend of mine is partners in business @ a major guitar mfg company with a very successful lawyer... he told me a funny story at our last outing......

He keeps a small treasure chest on his desk that is always closed..... on the outside it reads "the secret to success"........ for months his intern asked for the answer and for months he put the guy off..... eventually he allowed the intern to open it up....... and it had two words...... "hard work"........ the intern was let down feeling like he wanted a shortcut...... rather than the truth :)......

I find it interesting to hear about what makes people tick..... why they get up in the AM and do the things they do :)

Further to the 1st question..... has anyone overcome great odds in your path to "success"....... how ever you define it ?

We've all had our challenges...... I know I was a tough kid to raise, I pushed the limits all the time, and had a hard head...... so many of my challenges were self induced :).... others were a function of the environment. In any case I feel it made me tougher than the next guy all IMHO.
