Breitling Superocean (valj.7750) problem
While back I bought this sucker and it was serviced in 2013 and it is in beautiful condition, movement was really quiet. Today it stopped working! I noticed the rotor makes terrible scraping noise and hands aren’t moving, also the chrono doesn’t work. Tomorrow i’ll take it to a watchsmith and hope that it doesn’t require full service. My quick Google search told that it’s common for 7750 rotors to come loose because of their weight. Does some of you had the same issue?

Well it’s fuc*ed... The watchsmith said it’s cannot be easily fixed and it had to be sent to Breitling for service. I have the luck of Donald Duck when it comes to buying used watches.

Sorry to hear that. I would have planned on a service anyway considering it’s last service was about 7 years ago. Good news is, it will be like new when you get it back.

Had the same issue with an Old Navitimer 2, but was good as new and ran like a champ after the repair / service.

2013 was 7 years ago, it was due for a service anyway. It sucks but that’s mechanical watch ownership.
Great watch though! |

Breitling sent an email saying it’s an easy fix, apparently some spring had came loose and that’s why the movement stopped. Also they said that otherwise the movement is fine. They gave me 2 options: fix the spring 40€ or complete service 879€. I took the 40€...

Glad it was resolved. You'd be surprised, sometimes it can be a simple spring or perhaps even a screw that came loose in my experience... much better than a full service, cost wise!
