What's Happened That Made You Laugh So Hard You Couldn't Stop?

It was a Saturday. My girlfriends and I were out shopping when we decided to stop for a bite to eat. There we were standing at the front of the restaurant along with several other people waiting to be seated. All of a sudden a woman walks in wearing a very short mini skirt with high heels (FMQ shoes). She appeared very smug and self-contained, that is, until her stiletto shoe got caught on the area rug. She fell in a most unflattering position. Everyone simultaneously erupted with laughter - the type of out-of-control laughter that causes your eyes to tear and seems endless. The woman turned beat red, collected herself and ran out of that restaurant faster than a bat out of hell. She turned her ankle in the parking lot and still kept running!!!

So what's your story?

Kyle,

I saw that and got a kick out of it too. Tell me, how did you rate getting a Rolex at your tender age?

As they say... Pride cometh before a fall (and a hard one to boot).

For today, the youtube vid of the Japanese game show where contestants watching a comedian going through some English lessons are not supposed to laugh otherwise they are punished (my stomach is still hurting and yes, I was in tears).

Well, I saved up all my birthday money, christmas and chinese new year money and it eventually accumulated. So instead of buying a new computer... I bought a watch! Computers always go down in value, hopefully the watch will keep it!

Kyle, I can only hope my son has as much wisdom and common sense by the time he's your age.

Hi Tim,
I'm sure your son will become interested in watches when he gets older, after all I was inspired by my parents to get a Rolex. I saw my mom buying one for my dad, and thats when it started.

Mrs. Green Sub and I were on vacation in the early 80's at Sanibel Island. We were in our early 20's at the time. It had been suggested that we eat at the "Bubble Room" for dinner.

We arrived early to beat the crowd. Along with our steaks was a baked potato wrapped in aluminum foil.

It was one hot potato. When Mrs. Green Sub went to un-wrap the aluminum foil she burnt her fingers, but not before launching it clear across the dinning room. It literally went in to orbit.

When the waitress returned to our table a few minutes later I couldn't help but laugh when Mrs. Green Sub asked for another baked potato. The waitress looked bewildered. We still get a chuckle every time we get a baked potato wrapped in foil.

Slapstick's never really tickled my fancy. Word play, on the other hand, gets me going.

I was having a conversation with my best mate and he was talking about playing the guitar, which he picked up in his early twenties. Saying that he much preferred the guitar, he complained, "I only wish that my dad had gotten me guitar lessons instead of shoving the organ down my-".

He stopped dead in his tracks, we looked at each other and burst out laughing so hard we couldn't stop for ten minutes.

Honestly, sometimes it's when Carolina, Nancy, Joe, Jim, Martin and a few other funsters get rolling on some topic - the chemistry is there - the posts go rapid-fire - and I laugh until I cry!

Ain't it grand when you get a bunch that can poke fun at themselves first and then wind up and let it go. Don't happen all that often in life and that is a shame.

When Jocke put JJ's face on the finger poking through beneath the watch bracelet - to show proper bracelet fit - that sent me into gales of laughter. It was just too much!

The scene in "Old School" where Will Ferrell's character got shot in the neck with the tranquilizer dart. It doesn't sound funny, but when a certain song started playing right after that (I won't ruin the surprise for those who haven't seen it) I started laughing so hard that I cried. I was in the movie theater, and I looked at my husband, and he was crying, too.

Very true, Joe. The kinda rapport, harmony, love, friendship and understanding that exists here is tremendous and makes for such a great forum.

Here...a bunch of stuff...Joe stuck on the can, Frans' threads being constantly demolished, the early days of the three word thread, the Friday about two weeks ago when the quartet laid waste to the OD forums...

In movies, the thing that made me laugh out loud most recently was the naked wrestling scene in Borat. The rest of the film was "meh" but that scene I could hardly breathe.

Mostly though I'm with James, clever word play...especially panel shows on tv or radio, QI, Sorry I haven't a clue etc. They are brilliantly clever and very very funny.

Going into a department store with my daughter when she was ten and had just started getting very fashion aware. She had been looking to buy a pair of Uggs boots (or look alikes). She suddenly got very excited and shouted "Daddy they sell them in this shop". I looked around puzzled and said "Where"
She pointed to a sign saying UG.
I had to explain that mean't Upper Ground floor. It is not a subject she likes to discuss
Our family are always making fun of each other.
I enjoy the banter here on TRF with the lads and lasses. I still smile when I think of Jim "the caped film critic" 1976 taking a hotdog in defence of his principles

This is not funny though:
Speaking of high heels, I know a lady who is a bartender and fell off her shoes and broke her ankle. She was off work for a couple of months.

As for pure fun I have been enjoying the camaraderie and banter here on the Forum!!!

The contractor who poured our driveway last year had to take a few days off after his wife broke her pelvis - she caught a high-heel in the pet-barricade in their home's doorway while trying to step over it. Horrible fall.

High heels look good and can make quite a statement - but yikes! Just don't try to walk in them!

In Creative Writing 101 the standard lesson is that at the heart of every comedy is a tragedy. It's all a matter of perspective.
