Good point, I hadn't given it too much thought, but you are 100% correct.

The turn around time isn't really relevant because shortly after they received the watch we went into lockdown. My dealer said it would be about 3 or 4 weeks. It ended up being a few months. If you don't want a polish and want to keep your bezel as is, that should be fine. Just make sure they understand. I was charged one fee for servicing the movement. I think that includes polishing.

They didn't return the original bezel. I believe that is their policy. The new bezel is a perfect match.

I didn't pick New York. My AD sent it to New York. It ended up in Lititz, PA.

Wow, the bezel insert was a lot less than I would have guessed.

I have read that they were replacing inserts with the Flat 4 type. Is that why you specifically asked to have the same type as the replacement?

I didn't really ask to have the new insert match. As a matter of fact, after reading comments on TRF about bezels being replaced with the "flat four" variation I asked the AD. He said not to worry the RSC would take care of
it. So, I got it back just the way I had hoped it would look!

You could probably ask that the replacement bezel match the old one.

I wouldn't ask for a "flat four" because there are variations in the dial, serial number placement etc. that should match.

This is in line with the cost of other alu inserts for Sub and GMT. Makes me wonder why some people claim that RSC charges about $300 for the green one... But this one puts that claim to rest!

Nice! Love the color that the green insert gives, without being overwhelmingly green.

Your Kermit looks great!

I understand getting a replacement “service bezel insert” to bring the watch back to pristine condition.

Not sure I understand why Rolex keeps your original. If the bezel is original to the watch, I would think that it would belong to you, and you should get it back...if in fact you wanted it back. That way you would have the original bezel with the original watch.

After a day or so, it seems to be running around +1sec/day. When I originally bought it, it was running +7sec/day. This went on for years until it went up to about +10sec/day in the last year. Much better now!

Typically the parts are supplied on an exchange basis at a reduced cost.
Under limited circumstances, there is a way around it for some parts where you will be able to keep your originals but it requires a degree of input from yourself.
But one will pay an even higher premium.

The Rolex policy is intended to limit second hand parts floating around in the ether for many valid reasons.
