But only to those willing to pay for them and this guy would not.

Bought my 16610 Rehaut from a guy in Texas and he had all the papers hang tags & bezel protector, but he said he bought it in Hong Kong on a business trip. I was leery until he sent me photo's of the RSC New York service he had done in 2016 and that told me it's the real deal.

I have and I will. I prefer papers because of the crowd paranoia but a good watch at a good price from a good seller is a good deal (papers or not)!!!

Yes I recently purchased my 1999 Explorer I 14270 from WatchBox a trusted seller. Key factor is buying from a trusted seller.

I bought my 1675 with paper and box on Ebay, I don't think it was worth the cost increase.

No. Any acquisition is so rare and thought out for me, I want the whole package. More important to me than saving a couple hundred bucks.

If I were buying a vintage watch then yes if it came without them provided the condition of the watch, which is top priority was in good shape.

On a modern watch no. Outdated warranty or not I want a complete set.

Thanks for all the input!

So this is for a six digit modern watch. Only reason I am even considering the watch without paper (but includes everything else) is because of the seller. If it was a private seller, I would never consider it. I know DavidSw is legit. He gives a 1 year warranty as well.

I’m talking about a watch that cost ~$12k. I know for sure that if it’s a more expensive watch, say over 20k, I would definitely want the entire set with paper.

Decision, decision.....

Depends on the watch and cost. At a certain level papers would be required for me.

No issues with a watch that does not have box and papers if everything checks out. DavidSW is solid and I would not hesitate, and I have not, in buying anything I wanted from him. My AD can verify the watch and I have access to local Rolex Certified Service so it really comes down to the deal. Save without the papers/card for your purchase but it will cost you when you sell or trade. Only the OP knows his buying/selling habits and if the watch stays in the collection for five years or so then the regular price increases will cover any potential loss for not having the card. I would save the money now, buy the watch and enjoy it. The future is the future and if you should sell or trade the watch and can only get less then, so be it. Let us know what you decide.

There is no "discount" for not having paper- whatever that means to you.

The watch has a market price; you can find that all over the Internet. If it comes with anything extra, it is a bargaining point, or a no-go, depending on the buyer.

On the Internet sellers frequently cobble together "full sets" so they can sell for more profit. Having the price tag still stuck on stuff seems to be the fad now days because everybody thinks they are buying a future Red Sub or Valjoux Daytona. They aren't.

Passing up an excellent example at a good price for a watch, just because it doesn't have an obsolete warranty card borders on insanity.

Something else that is becoming a thing is telling the seller that "it needs a service" and expecting them to knock the price down for that... really

No. Not even from a trusted seller. There are too many really good fakes out there these days, and even one of our trusted folks could have unintentionally taken in a good copy or a Frankenwatch.

Some TS will ding a watch like crazy if you sell a Rolex to them without the box and papers. One grey dealer took $1k off appraisal offer, while another took only $200.

I would buy one without box or papers only if I can pay with a cc, offered at a good price, and I plan on keeping the piece.

For me I’d use this more for peace of mind about authenticity, although this isn’t a foolproof method. But if I trust the seller, that’s as good for me. I don’t give any consideration to resale value.

Because I only buy to wear, papers for me are meaningless. Especially if I'm buying from a trusted seller. The upside of buying with no papers is you usually get a slightly better price.

No...don’t. The AD’s are not open and you really need to have the back popped out to be 100% sure.

I would trust something from DavidSW without papers more then most online with papers. And as said before, you can always send it in for service and get papers.
