SEL = Solid End Link. That means that the part of the bracelet that attaches it to the case is machined from a solid piece of steel. The Sea Dweller (as an ultra professional dive watch) had that design introduced many years ago and Rolex has started to introduce the SEL on more and more models. The Sub got the SEL in 2000.
The SEL must make the connection between the bracelet and case more sturdy because the pin cannot bend in the middle anymore so the bracelet is attached more secure to the case. Hope this helped
