I had the same thoughts with my first Rolex, but I ended up with the Submariner. I`ve got 6,5" wrists aswell, but I think the Sub looks good on it.
With that said, the Explorer is a much more comfortable watch to wear, sits lower on the wrist and just a tad smaller.
Either way, you cant go wrong!
I`ve only got these crappy wristshots, but I hope it helps.

I was hesitant to get a Sea Dweller (4kft model) because of the size, but after a few weeks anything smaller feels funny. It just depends on what you are used to. Get the big watch and you will not regret it.

6'2 and 253lbs ..I use to be 6'3 but ive shrunk an inch since im old now.
I would love to wear smaller dialed watches but they look toyish on me.
I was trying on a Omega P.O. XL and my wife said its big enough to fit you arm/wrist

Grass is always greener eh? There's a ton of larger watches that I'd love to try but I know that they'd look silly on me.

I'm a 6.5 incher also, and regularly rotate between a SS GMT II coke and a Platinum Yachtmaster. Can't make up my mind which I like better. The only difference I notice is the YM is a heavier, more substantial watch.

Both fit perfect.

I have a 6.25 inch wrist and I wear a 42mm IWC Pilot Chrono and a 40mm Explorer II. I think a sports model is fine. I think overall size will determine how well a watch fits with your physique. I am 6'0 and 198lbs and a 44mm would be too big for me if this gives you any indication. I have seen some smaller people pull of big watches such as Port Auto and Big Pilot. Rolexes are made do fit your wrist

Everybody's got an opinion, and if you're going down that track you're likely to just end up confusing yourself. Go down to the AD, try them all on and see which one suits you best.

Have you considered an Explorer? I much prefer the size of the explorer to the Subs. I had my heart set on a Sub, until I actually tried one on, and found that it was bigger than I wanted. Found the explorer and it was perfect.

...then come back to TRF and find one in our "For Sale" forum! You'll find some good deals from some good people

I think it's all a matter of personal preference, so you need to try on the various models and see what fits you best.

I'm a strong believer in getting what YOU WANT. Anyways, I have a 6.5" wrist and rotate between my GMT-II PEPSI and Sub 14060M NO DATE. I feel they both look good and do get compliments on how nice they look!!!

Also forgot to mention I wear my watches on the inside(bottom side of wrist) and they always wear flat and looks great IMHO!!!

I have a 6.75" wrist and wear Zenith 46.5mm (largest) and Tag 39 mm (smallest) my other watches are around 40 mm, they all look very good, but this is of course a personnal feeling.
I might even buy a Deepsea soon :)
