Should I trade my 116600 for a 116520?
The SD4k on an Everest strap has been my Monday-Friday. But I’ve been getting the itch for a new piece for the collection and I don’t own a Daytona yet. Originally I liked the white dial, but now I’m leaning towards the black dial. Thoughts?

adding, instead of replacing, if possible. In Rolex world, especially of SS sports models, there are more seller's remorse than buyer's :-)

I own all 3 and the white 116520 is my favorite. While it is my opinion that the SD4k is the best dive watch ever made, it has its cons. It is thick and a bit top heavy. The markers and hands are smaller than on my 116710LN so it’s a little less legible. I once wore my GMTIIC on a Rubber B strap for some time and found it too top heavy. So I can’t imagine the lopsided-ness of an SD4K on a strap. But the SD4K bracelet with the glide lock makes it fit just perfect.
As for the 116520, it is so sleek and comfortable. It does everything but tell the date. The Daytona’s legibility is less than the SD, Especially on the black dial. If I could only keep one it would be the white 116520, it’s such a sweet watch. Plus the wife wears and loves it too. I always say the Black 116520 is more beautiful but the white 116520 is more Legible. So, TLDR trade the SD for the Daytona. Then maybe add a 14060/16600 (Or just a Seiko) later if you miss the dive watch. |

The only time I've traded a watch for another I regretted it. Not because I didn't like the new addition, I missed the old one. The SD4k and Daytona would be a good pair!

I had a SD4K but sold it for the exact reason, thickness and top heavy. I have a few SS Daytona and the white 116520 is one of my favorite. |

heck no. Everyone knows that once john mayer and hodinkee hype up the sd4k as the one true unicorn, it will shoot up in price and you can retire for 4 lifetimes with it. just sayin.

SD4K is more unique and 'rare' but comes with the downside of being uncomfortable and top heavy. Daytona just wears almost perfect.

Ok sounds like the consensus is to keep the SD4k and wait for the Daytona. I actually have a 116508 on order. But for an ROI perspective is why I’m considering the 116528 over the 116600.
I just put a NATO strap on the SD4k for fun. I actually don’t feel the top heaviness of the watch even considering it on the NATO. The NATO allows it to sit closer on your skin. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
