I wear mine on the daily as well. Working on little house stuff, grocery shopping with the fam... it just works!

Which one do you like better if you had to choose?

Honestly I would struggle to choose. I've been wearing the full gold Bluesy 90% of the time for the past month because I'm still in honeymoon period with this watch.

But in saying that the DD40 is the statement piece and pinnacle of Rolex im my opinion.

I will never sell either of them to be honest. Once the honeymoon period with the bluesy wears off it will probably be daily rotations again.

I wore a 18238 for roughly 3 years as a daily, and it held up fine. Now I daily a YG sub and no issues. Gold is fine for everyday wear.

Let me share my experience with you.

I inherited from my dad a 18238 day-date YG with (i think its) champagne dial and diamonds (a quite rare dial variation as the diamonds are not bigger at 6 and 9 o clock) at the age of 17.

In the beginning, it felt strange to wear such a watch at such a young age and i did not wear it.
So i kept it in the drawer and tried it on a few times.
I knew i could not pull that off, but maybe one day after 20 years i would like it.

As time passed, i thought of exchanging it for a Daytona SS or TT, but thankfully the dealer i visited, after carefully examining the watch, advised that i should keep the watch, because ''one day you will seriously regret parting with your dad's watch''.

So i kept it but it was big and i had to resize it, but still not wear it.

My dad wore the watch daily everywhere, for the 1 and 1/2 year he had it.
To his job, to recreational activites including boat fishing and hunting, without exceptions.
I don't remember if the bracelet was fitted tight or loose, but he had huge hands, wrists and fingers and he had to buy 2 extra links for the watch to fit his hands lol..

At approx. the age of 19 i started wearing my DD daily literally everywhere.

So, from 1999 to 2005 (6 years), i did everything wearing that watch.
Work,Studies,GYM 4-times per week, beach, swimming, showering, hunting, (even some kick-boxing trainings wearing it).

I had it, cleaned/polished it 1-2 times with a polishing cloth, at a friends store who was a Rolex AD at the time.
Nothing more.

I stopped wearing it daily at 2006, and only wore it occasionally afterwards.

In 2016 , i wanted to wear it at my wedding and so i decided to give it some life, so i had its first service at Rolex S.A and i replaced crystal, dials and had it polished.

Since then, i wear it occasionally, because i dont want to drag too much attention, plus i got a pretty well-built collection that i like to enjoy.

I am thinking of changing that though and revive it again, maybe with a simple dial, to bring it ''down'' a bit.
Maybe white dial, or Black onyx dial, or even a regular black dial.
I would even like a ''simple'' champagne dial without the diamonds to tone it down, but i consider this a bad choice for me, since the watch already has a champagne dial with diamonds, so the change would be unnoticeable.
Anyway, i wish to combine the dial swap considering at the same time, a dial swap in my 116503 (currently Blue racing dial), so that one is ''dark'' and other ''light'' colored.

Conclusions.
-You can wear it daily.
-Yes 18238 has not solid links (i think the outer links are solid but not the center one, or the opposite), or they are not solid where the pin is placed. Someone with nore knowledge can correct me here.
-President bracelet is EXTREMELY FORGIVING scratches, dents etc.

The most important thing with a DD is to wear the watch and not let the watch wear you.

PS. Picture is a close-up, Rolex S.A sent me, after polishing the watch, which ''shows'' some ''scratches'' that are actually dirt and not scratches.

Hope my story helped a bit in your consideration.

My experience is no one really notices unless they are watch people and that is few and far between out in the world. I have a WG Sub and not once has anyone had a comment ever. It rotates with my other watches and there agin you would think if anyone cared they would notice you are wearing different watches week over week etc. But no one does. No one has time to look up from their phones to care. Enjoy your watch!
