Many brands already do this. In fact I like the way they do it.

For instance with JLC you get a certain number of warranty years when you buy from an AD. if you go home and register online with JLC they give you several more years of warranty. Their site also allows you to log in and see information about your watch, schedule a service, price out of service etc.

Is any of this stuff essential? No, but it's kind of cool to have. I also like how JLC doesn't even care about warranty cards anymore. They still give you one but it is not nearly as important as the Rolex card.
