I didn't think the GMT-II ceramic was being discounted at all--especially last year--but to get it at 20% off retail is just fantastic. I got mine as a graduation gift, and hopefully will be purchasing the TT or SS ceramic sub within the next year. I know, I could always ask the AD my parents got the GMT-II ceramic at, but I like to do my homework rather than go in blind.
perspective that this discount can easily be had just b/c of the crappy economy we're experiencing; that said any "first time buyer" shouldn't be afraid to ask for a discount. This sorry arse market will be here by the time you consider your next purchase (nxt year), so dont be afraid - ASK !

I think there is no hard and fast rule. I got 20% my GMTIIC a year ago, when it was till new and hot. It was the first watch I bought from my now regular AD. I also bought a SS Airking (for my wife) at the same time. The AD gave 20% off on both of them. I good deal at the time, and I think still a good deal.

Mainly, it depends on the AD. Those in smaller markets and not in malls seem to be the most flexible. Less overhead I guess.

My motis operendi is to be warm and nice to the AD asnd explain how much I like the watches, but I can only afford to pay so much. Buying two or three at a time also helps. As my mom used to say, easier to catch flies with honey than with vinegar.

I think no one should be paying full SR right now (especially in the US). If you need the contact info for my AD, PM me.

Congrats on your graduation (from law school?). Where did you graduate from?

I graduated from a small private law school here in Florida--Stetson College of Law. Had a great experience and got lots of internships, research positions, and clerkships.

I'll be in contact with you about your AD.

I am similar with ADs when I get ready for a purchase. I think I'm about to get a SD in a trade, so may not be purchasing much in the immediate future, but hopefully the TT or SS ceramic sub when both are out (so as to compare).

Hopefully the previous GMT purchase and the potential Sub purchase will warrant 20%, if not more.

Maybe that's why I have the occasional "divorce" with the usual financial penalty.
I can totally relate to that! LOL. Although no divorce yet... but with my last purchase (the Daytona), I'm teetering on the edge.

I think this post has to be some kind of record for a "should I buy" topic. 475 threads, 21 pages and it's not done. We are a boring lot..

Good luck consumating your sale.

Well, my wife said, "If you want to buy those three Rolexes, than I want the deck off our bedroom screened in."

Sounds like a fair deal to me :)

You're making off like a bandit since you benefit from the deck too

And she can wear any of my watches anytime she wants!

Question: How many others share wearing their Rolexes with their spouses or SO's?

I would demand a steep discount and one of those nice green rolex crown paperweights that of course could be sent to me, cause I really need a paperweight. The dewat pineapple complaint weight is getting stale

i have a feeling the day this BIG transaction is supposed to happen.... one of the following things will take place..

--the ad will go out of business
--someone will lose their job
--a minor car accident on the way to the ad
--a problem with a clasp on one of the watches
--forgot to bring my wallet
--ad sold all 3 watches 1 minute before he got there for 20,005.00
--changed his mind while he was at the ad because his wife phoned him to tell him that all the members at trf decided to buy all 3 watches for him....

when is the third watch supposed to be delivered to your AD? Everytime I see this thread pop back up, I keep expecting to see pics of all three of them.

The AD says this week. He also said that he normally gets shipments on Thrusdays from Rolex. As you know, Rolex ships all watches Registered Mail. I guess they ship on Mondays, and he receives the shipment on Thurdays.

So, with a little luck, I can wrap up these deal by the end of the week.

Thanks for your interest.

Hi Brian.... I haven't checked this thread in a few days.

Big Congrats on the 3 for 20k!!!! What a deal!

Can't wait to first see pics and then one in on your wrist as we are celebrating over a beer!

Now... listen to me Brian .... do not let your wife wear ANY of your watches. I don't let my GF touch mine. If you do.... all of a sudden they will 'become' hers. Buy her her own Rolex's. Like your underwear .... keep your watches separate.

Well has the AD come through or at least given you a more solid idea. I find it hard to believe that the AD doesn't know when his order is coming in especially since he is in close proximity to RUSA. I think we are all waiting to see your good fortune.

Got to agree with Pav once your wife wears them they are going to be hers.

Count me in! On the beer, that is...no ladies underwear.
I want to see the new trio!

Sorry this caused you so much angst! Thank you for your good wishes. Deciding whether I should go pick them up today, or wait until tomorrow. I'm a little nervous about the whole thing, I hope you understand.
