Rolex/Gallet single pusher chronograph

I bought this today and the seller thought it was made by Gallet for Rolex in the 1930’s
Is there any truth in his story?
It was only £25 so I didn’t buy the story just the watch

Anything is possible, but all the Gallet Regulator Chronographs I've seen are signed on the movement and inside the case-back. Clearly this one was never signed, since the decoration is totally unblemished. I would guess this was just a generic anonymous version.

Well, you can find things on the internet, but that doesn't mean they are original. If I were buying a watch with an unsigned movement and no signature on the dial, I would be working under the assumption that it is not a Gallet (and certainly not a Rolex), unless there is a way to prove otherwise. Anything else is just wishful thinking. There are no import marks, no makers marks, nothing that I can see to identify the watch.

Doesn't matter in this case, since you have very little into it and the dial looks to have been washed anyway. Regardless of its history, the watch obviously has quality to it.

A Google Images search turned up dozens with signed movements and case-backs. Here are links to a few. I guess we each find what we are looking for. :-)

Nobody is saying Gallet made them, I think we are all well aware that these are Venus movements. Read the thread. The question is whether there are Gallet-signed Venus 140 movements in Gallet-signed regulator chronographs. The OP indicated that he couldn't find any movements that were Gallet-signed, so I provided some links.

Anyway, it seems pretty clear that this thread doesn't belong in the vintage Rolex forum, so perhaps we should stop.

lol missed the extra comments during my search. ended up rabbit holing and learning far more about single pusher movements than I did at the beginning of this thread. So no complaints.

I did find one Rolex with the movement, although I think it's fake, I'd be surprised if theres any authentic Rolex single pusher chronos

An interesting watch and already paid for itself with the fun of researching it and this thread, I'd say.

I think you'd make a few pounds to boot if you got rid of it!

my last flea market find was a Wittnauer I picked up for $35 in a gold filled case. not worth a whole lot, but it's a beautiful watch. I always love picking up sub $50 mechanical watches. I used to find them all the time, not so often anymore and alot of the brands that used to be cheap are bringing hundreds to thousands now so it's tough finding these little gems anymore.
