I can’t keep this in!

None of you know me personally and I don’t know any of you. Thus, this a great place to announce that I found out this afternoon that my wife and I are expecting a boy!

Obviously, I don’t care about gender so long as the baby is healthy but I’m the only male left to carry on my family last name so a boy has special meaning for me.

My wife doesn’t want me telling anyone but I’m so excited, and scared sh*less, and I want to tell someone!

Big congrats.

I have yet to ever mention this online to anybody either, and we just drove up to my parents in NY state on labor day to tell them in person, but we're expecting too. A girl.

I'm scared sh*tless too - beyond words. This was not planned and completely unexpected (thought impossible really)... the problem is I'm in my mid 40s and I feel like I will need a cane at her high school graduation.

Congratulations and good luck to you as well. I know a few who have had kids later and the guys seem to be comfortable and confident in their own skin and seem to make a point to spend more time with their kids than other guys who are work work work focused (not that there is anything wrong with that either). Congrats!

Please don’t tell anybody this, but if you are a Father, boys are much easier on the nerves.
Shhhh, it’s a secret.

Huge congratulations BTW.

Huge congrats, OP! The first 3 months are insane, but things begin to gel around the fourth month.

This happened to us. Didn’t think we could have kids, then a baby girl shows up when we were 41. I think it works better in the sense you are at an age when going out partying isn’t a priority anymore (at least for me) and family time is more important to just about everything... this is coming from a guy who never wanted kids and never really new anything about kids besides being one a million years ago.

Huge congrats!! Parenting, especially in the early years, is definitely a daily, hands-on job. It also has brought me more joy and satisfaction than anything else I’ve ever done. The world could always benefit from more good people who are raised by good people. Enjoy your journey!
