OK, just to finalize this as most have stopped voting or reading. My thoughts are that if I let the Platona go I'll never get another one. With its value going up and even the potential of discontinuation (total speculation) it would be a shame to let it go for something as common as a Day Date and a faddish OF watch (even though I really love both of them). I'm really surprised to see almost a two to one vote against the Platona.

Thanks for letting us know. I agree with your logic. You can certainly revisit at any time you like in the future as the Platona is likely to remain one of Rolex’s top pieces for quite some time. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

The date function on the DD40 trumps the Daytona. Unless you really use the chronometer function. Daytona dials are too busy and hard to read IMO |

I've actually done the same with 2 DD 36 watches but my 40mm DD is here to stay. It's definitely my favorite. I think it would be difficult to give up the Platona.

Keep the Platona...sell any combination of the following for the DD40: Ball, YM, Milgauss, TT Daytona (am I missing anything?) When it comes to watches, less is more IMO. Remember, there is a reason you consolidated your collection for the Platona. If you sell it now for two watches, you're moving in the wrong direction.

Never sell your beautiful Platona. I`m sure you would regret it.

Definitely the right choice. (Although you already put me out of my misery before your post ha)
From my limited time on this forum compared to yourself I know for a fact you really love and wear your Daytona and although I don’t know you personally I think you’re in that position where you have found “your watch”. Which is hard to do. I think you will understand what I mean. The sky dweller is the one for me. Just some food for thought, if after a change maybe “upgrade” ( I use this term because it’s more expensive) to the diamond dial. Definitely think you made the right decision and agree with all your points. |
