Yes, OP, don't touch that beauty!

Outstanding heirloom.

this 100%, its vintage and its all part of the personality. Trust me once you've worn it several times it wont even be a thing to you. Its in great shape.

Ok guys, I'll really think about maybe not polishing it

Also: looks like the box and Oyster manual from the original post actually belongs to this gold Submariner. I am just reading up online to try and find out what watch goes into which box, Rolex boxing is quite a bit confusing

@320Driver, the box for the 1680/8 must be something superior.

Not the one on your 1st. posts. Wood with inlays or similar fancy stuff.

I have a more recent 16618 so can't really tell you for sure, but definitely not the "simple/plain" you've shown.

I'm sure some lucky member owns a similar 1680/8 and will help you out.

I heard something about an alternate way of cleaning up these gold watches instead of polishing "rolieren" they call it in Germany. Any advice on what would be best to get this Baby up to new beauty?

Thanks and thanks all others who are helping out. This forum is awesome
amazing.... lucky man! enjoy the watches.

Can I ask what your late relative did for a living? always interested in who collects these dumb things ;)
