The long-awaited first Rolex
Hi everyone! Long time lurker, first time poster.
First, I want to thank the members of this forum for providing great insight into the complicated world of luxury watch buying and helpful answers to almost every question a first-timer could have. After many years of reading and researching and dreaming about bringing one home, I purchased my first Rolex yesterday - she is a new 2020 DJ36 and I got her in-person from a nice GM dealer here in Los Angeles. While the experience of going GM was different from what I always had in mind for what my first purchase would be like, I had a (surprisingly?) hard time finding exactly what I wanted at the various ADs around here and frankly just got impatient of waiting for them to get one in. I wanted to celebrate a recent work promotion and my first kid coming in March, so I just went ahead and pulled the trigger. I'm so happy with it. The excitement and milestone feels a little weird to share with most of my friends ("look at the expensive thing I bought!") so had to come here because I knew you all would understand :D Thanks again for all of the help you never knew you gave me! And lastly - appreciate any tips for favorite ways of storing her! |

Beautiful watch and it fits you well.
And I definitely understand your leaning on us forum members for sharing the news. I, like you, don't bring up my watch habit with my friends who aren't WISs. |

There are definitely some good secondary market dealers in LA, I'm glad you were able to make a deal that worked for you. |

I looked at one with another dealer, and that one had a pretty significant markup over MSRP. Really crazy how the market is. I learned so much through the experience. It's a slippery slope, isn't it? Tell me why I'm now looking at Hulks?? But my husband says we'll have to share that one :) |
