AP Smart Card for Warranty

Which year did AP introduce the smart card for warranty instead of the booklet?
What Letter serial number would that correspond with?
Is registering a “new to me” watch with a smart card different from registering one with warranty booklet on the AP website?

I believe late J serial starting getting warranty cards and not stamped in the book. I estimate 2018 was the switch over.
