I have the 687, so I’d urge you to get the 685 if you prefer the black dial. Only 1500 of each ever produced, and the only contemporary Panerai that hasn’t been re-released in a gazillion variants. Both the 687/685 are destined for future classic status. I also almost bought the 721 around the same time as I bought the 687, but without the name on the dial it looked too much like a parnis copy, so I passed. 720 I believe was also a limited edition, but its been done over and over again, unlike the 685/7 which has the unique bezel design, never seen since and unlikely to ever reappear again. Read the history of the original brevettato bezel Panerai and how it came about. I bought the 687 because I read about the history of the original rare piece.
