What is it with Panerai ?
Okay, This might seem a little long winded but bare with me. All my life I have been a one watch guy. I always purchased something high quality and tough, Then wore it until the cost to repair was just to much. Usually years of hard, rough service. Fast forward 40 years or so I have been buying Breitling, Rolex, Omega etc. Until I had several nice pieces at one time. But still only wore one watch 95% of the time.
So recently I decided to weed out my collection and revert back to one watch. I am gifting all my watches to nephews and grandsons who share my enthusiasm with watches. My friend at my AD was put to the challenge of helping me with my "exit" watch so to speak. He is a Panerai fan (Big time) and I finally selected a PAM722. Which I have never owned a Panerai and knew nothing about. Needless to say, I have "bonded" with this watch in a way I never expected. I am very impressed by it and find myself with great enjoyment each time I look at my wrist. So.... Finally settled on one watch again and could not be happier. My friend told me, "You know you will have to buy another" "Just wait and see" So the other night I'm looking at the Panerai web site and placing a SUBMERSABLE on my wish list! WTH! I don't understand what it is with Panerai that after you get one (And mind you I'm very happy with the one I have) I'm looking for another! Is there something in the metal? Is this normal? WHY, why can you not have just one?

They're super addictive. I really like them.
Unfortunately, they are absurdly overpriced. |

They are expensive, but they seem to be built very well. Just something about the simplicity of the design. Not just a ordinary style. And I'm really liking there in house movements.

I understand the first two, looking left to right, but fail to understand the one on the right. Arabic numerals and Romans? Maybe its just aesthetics or somebody needs to explain to me how this makes sense. Congrats on the first two (especially the middle one), but I cannot understand or appreciate the one on the right. The first two make a winning set. Congrats!

Oh my! Looks like me and my AD will remain friends for a long time. Yep, I can see this happening to me. Nice collections. I think I definitely have contracted PCS. ( Panerai collection syndrome).

I am also guilty of this, started with a used 176 a few years ago, got a used 232 last summer and a new 692 a few months ago... But I think I'm done now.

Once you fall in love with their fashion timepieces, you may want more color choices and styles. Same with bands as most PAM'ers keep the fashion going by changing straps / bracelets. Rolex is really missing out in this department of offering various bands imho.

Dang!
I went to my AD Saturday and was looking at submersibles, Just to the left was a 42MM Black waffle dial, date, small seconds and a power reserve 3 day indicator, 1950 case. I put a deposit on it!. I don't even remember the reference number!!! Is that bad or what! Oh, I have it bad I think, Is there any cure?
