The Updated IWC Pilot's Watch Spitfire Collection
Catching up on some watch articles from over the weekend, I came across this fantastic write up that Hodinkee posted. Ahead of SIHH 2019, they visited IWC's headquarters and spent some time with their CEO discussing the new Spitfire collection and some other releases.
IWC hasn't really been on my radar, but I must admit that this new Spitfire collection has some real winners. Personally, I'm a big fan of the looks and movement complications of "The Longest Flight." Link: https://www.hodinkee.com/articles/iw...on-introducing

There are some really nice watches in this new collection. The Bronze Chrono is a winner for me.

What's up with the faux patina? And... could someone please remind IWC and the rest of the watch industry that WW II has been over for many years. No need to issue supplies for the conflict from decades ago.
Hard pass.

Just been on the iwc website. Aside from any I like being absolutely massive, I’m unsure why the only one they’ve given a sapphire caseback is the one with the least interesting movement. Odd really as those movements in the spitfires look really nice.

I love the Spitfire collection. I didn't connect much with IWC prior to, but have looked at several models since the launch. The Spitfire chrono is on my list. faux patina doesn't bother me
