It's a paper thin wafer applied to the top of the brass dial plate. Other models are lacquered or have a different finish applied, this one just happens to have a thin wafer slice of meteorite. The wood dials are the same way.

I want to know how they thinly cut that slice?

With extreme difficulty I hear. They have to Chuck away a huge amount of it and you can imagine the holes the have to drill out for the date etc aswell, the Daytona dials must be an absolute nightmare it’s very fragile.

There are some secret processes involved to “toughen” the blank of material beforehand methinks. Also likely to be using cutting edge (punful there) slicing technology.

I’d sure like to know/see them but that’s not likely
