'wait' list with AD
Hi all,
Great forum. I have purchased ( non rolex) from a dealer on here and it was all good. that purchase was a 'distraction' buy as my preferred Sub no date is too much above retail, factor in forex & etc... for the Australians ( or others) folk here, is being on "wait" list with AD who you haven't purchased from prior likely to get an outcome? Im happy to wait for however long it takes, but the AD give no indication on timeframes ( which is fair enough) but assure you they will put on the list. Are they saying that to move you along, knowing they will never ring me? would there be plenty 'loyal' customers ahead of me? what is the black sub no date supply or demand like? im on a list that will yield an outcome? thoughts? sorry....lots of questions, but they are just generally the same..... any comment is fine! thanks |

Sub, relatively speaking, has the short wait times compared to other SS models. I got my Sub date in about 30 days, and I did not have any prior history with them. My buddy is waiting for about 6 months now, and now I am trying to get him one thru my AD.

I think it really depends on the AD... My personal experience is that I've been waiting for one watch so long with nearly no purchase history and still waiting... Whereas some other members purchased the watch with no purchase history at all and still got their watches in reasonable timeframe (1-2 years max).
Hope this helps. |

It all depends on the AD but generally “waitlists” are not real in the sense that many believe they are and the AD will sell the watch to whoever they feel appropriate when it comes in. If you’re a new customer and they’ve told you they’ve added you the the waitlist and you never follow up with them you will likely be waiting for the watch for eternity.

No insight into the Australian market. I'd be surprised if you got one in thirty days but I am one of those who believe in 'building a relationship.' Which doesn't equal 'sucking up to.' Remind your AD occasionally of what you want and you'll be fine. ('Field of Dreams' comes to mind. No, I am not sober.)

Thanks guys.... I will just have to send the occasional reminder email and hope it gets noticed. We only have 1 ad in our city, so like most specialised items we usually have to do it another state.

Each AD gets this every month. It’s why everyone & their dogs have one.
The wait list is another story. It’s an illusion at best. |

I was at a large AD today (empty display cases) and the SA who I was talking to told me everything is pretty much a 6-8 week wait for anything 41mm. I then asked him about a stainless DJ with fluted bezel and he said oh I can’t even order anything like that. I was pretty surprised by that which he must have saw from the face I made and he genuinely seemed frustrated with the current supply situation.
It’s also interesting that they are expanding and renovating their store space with Rolex advertising stating they are open during the remodel |

yeah.....I would buy on TRF, prices are a bit outrageous sometimes, but with forex and shipping can get a bit hard to justify - some premium is ok, but appears ( currently) to be too much. I want a Sub but can wait too.....

Today many of these so called lists or watches for only VIP buyers, only exist in internet fantasy land.

I think a personal approach will net you better results. If it’s at all possible, I’d drop in every couple of months. Having them see your genuine interest, and putting a face to a name will get you further than the occasional email |
