A strong no from me on that (but I'm not a ym2 fan).

I always liked the stealthy look of the Everose YM40 with the matte dial. But I tried it on years ago and the Oysterflex bracelet seemed a bit bulky next to the watch. The thicker Daytona looks more balanced on the Oysterflex.

I actually think Rolex realized this and it was a main reason why they came out with the YM42. At the 2019 launch I wondered why they would create this larger size, and I never really gave it much thought since then until I tried it on recently. Now I get it. It’s a really nice piece. And although it’s a 42mm, it’s still thinner than a Daytona. Awesome legibility from the larger indices and the cyclops lens is less dominating because it’s about the same size as the indices. I didn’t think I’d like the lacquered dial over the matte dial of the 40mm Everose, but it’s really attractive. If you haven’t tried one on your wrist I highly recommend it. The watch looks and feels very balanced on the wrist. I think the YM42 is a real sleeper and could very well be a future high-demand standout.

I am loving the blue YM40.. I can't imagine trading two solid steel watches for a YM42 with a rubber strap. Don't get me wrong, I love the higher end Yachtmasters, but I don't think you're getting "as much watch" when it comes on a rubber strap. I never liked steel bracelets till I got the YM40 with the beautiful polished center links. It really makes the watch so much better. Buttt, I can't imagine paying 3x the price for a watch with a rubber strap.. just not worth it, bang per buck IMO

Tough call…

There are some Rolex models that look better in pics than in person…
hulk or BLNR were like that for me.
The pastel-like bezels just didn’t do it for me in real life, tho. Ymmv.

The wg ym42 is opposite of that.

The pics don’t do it justice imo.
That watch is so freakin nice in person!
The stealth bezel is unreal and the case is sublime.

I am a big fan of sd43 so I personally would not do that trade.
Perhaps sell the ym40 and add cash for the ym42…

But if u r not a big fan of sd43.. and u yearn for the ym42, I say go for it!

This trade makes more sense to me than people paying $30k+ for SS Daytona. Lol

Great pic and write up.

I should get the YM42 in June and an SDc 116600 will make way for half of it. Residual suicide of course but there's no fun in safe queens and life is too short.
