WG Blue Submariner

I saw in person the white gold special blue submariner today and I think I am in love. What do you guys think of the watch? Do you think it will be made in SS eventually? It is a very expensive watch (nearly 30,000) but you can get away wearing it everyday because it looks just like steel. What do you think the best discount in could get on that watch? Is 35% something to be conquered...more?

I had one for a couple of weeks, couldn't get on with the blue so sold it. It is isn't as pretty as the 16613 blue IMO.

I do not believe that they will make the blue dial on a SS version. There hasn't been one for many years (although I do believe there was one for the asian market at some point.

That blue won't work for me, but I honestly don't think it's that bad that you gotta sell it. Might grow on you a few more times you wear it my friend.

Saw one yesterday, very nice watch, but the price point is all wrong.
For that much coin, there are so many "exclusive" watches to choose from that are much much much nicer to look at.

They should have considered, say a SS version with a price around the $10k mark, kept supply low & I think it would have been a hit.

It's a very beautiful watch, no doubt about that; but with that kind of money, I'd rather wait for the new TT Sub with the BLACK dial.

You'd still be sporting a superb watch on your wrist and with plenty of cash back in your pocket.

Some good advice, that's all - JJ

The price is just too high...

I'd rather do like JJ and buy a Black TT SuB c + a GMT IIC + a 41mm DJ for the same amount.

I am not a great fan of the new Blue in the collection...

I'd just buy the SS one, and order a blue bezel and dial, and have a watchmaker swap them out. It'd probly be like $1500 for the dial and bezel, from what I've seen, so it wouldn't be nearly as expensive as buying the gold one. Also, since SS is a harder metal, it'll hold up better than the gold one.

But who knows, Rolex might release a blue version in SS next year.

Never seen a Blue Dial and Bezel version in Japan. I check out the For Sales every month with both new and used coming on sale.

I think the blue SS is the way to go. The WG goes for US$20,000 in Japan, discounted price.

I love the new WG blue Sub. The new April edition of Watches In Sync has an article on this watch. It mentioned Rolex may be doing the new blue in a SS version in 2010. I will be very interested in buying it if they do.

This is one of my to get watches. I am hoping in time I will be able to get the upcoming SS version and the YG version also. This would complete my collection. Stick a fork in me cause I would be done and also broke.

Personally I am not a fan of the smurfmariner. But the wonderful thing about Rolex watches is that they make many varieties for many tastes.

I think it looks awesome, something different. In my opinion, they will not make it in steel.

Good luck on your purchase.

there is a big "Doh" in your future !
(cause, they will make one, and not necessarily w/the "smurf" color scheme-it will be black instead)

I'd just assume keep the PCL's for the YM and the TT models not on the SS Sub, JMHO
