Good trade.

Value wise typically should be trading 3 SS for 1 PM so value wise you did ok, PM GMT imo has more room to grow than SS GMT in its current market.

For wearing, the oyster bracelet and heft of PM is a better change than going from Pepsi to Batman bezels on jubilee. If I had Pepsi/Oyster & Batman/Jubilee (or vice versa) it would really be a tough call but I cant see myself wearing both SS GMT on jubilees regularly.

I would also switch to the blue dial to make it feel even more different a watch, the blue is a midnight blue that looks black from many angles.

I agree: once you go precious metal, it's hard to go back. There is nothing like having gold or platinum in your hand or on your wrist. Congrats!

I would consider swapping your dial for the blue version. Apparently RSC will do it, you just need to pay for the new dial and they keep the old one.

In a world full of black dials, I like the specialness of the blue on this Pepsi.

Either way, you have a stud of a watch. Congrats!

I'm planning to shift the direction of my collection to PM and wanted a black dial for versatility sake. I actually don't really like the blue dial with the BLRO bezel personally.

I would've done that deal as I'm not a fan of the jubilee bracelet. Congratulations!

Congratulations. Beautiful watch.

I definitely would. Always a great deal to cash in on the hype for something further up the line.

Wouldn’t have made that particular trade but *would* do it for the RG GMT 126715
That said - any PM Rolex has a feel to it that is quite satisfying.

Congrats!

There are some really beautiful PM pieces no doubt, but there is a certain part of me that wonders how much more incremental value will i receive in exchange for 2x-3x the money... and right now i dont see it (yet?).
At current spot prices for gold, there is a little over $4,000 worth of actual gold in a gold Day Date. I am not sure about the grams in the GMT. There was a great post here many years ago where they added up all of the actual gold in the various components of PM pieces in grams. It's about 78 grams for the Day Date.

I don’t think melt value of a Rolex is a valid factor in choosing PM over SS for the same model. When you’re North of $38K MSRP, melt isn’t even in the same zip code.
