Should I sell two watches to buy a 126619LB ?

I’ve been offered the new white gold sub, I love it a lot. However I have the new lv and the new sub date. I love the wider strap on the new sub and glidelock, fits me like a dream and adore the pair. Both bought at retail.

To get the blue sub I would have to lose my Batman and Daytona ceramic black. I know people hate these what shall I do posts but I’ve never had a full pm. Is it worth two steels?

It possibly is worth 2 steels, but not ‘those’ 2 steels!

Well not the black ceramic Daytona at least.

If you bought that retail, you must have a pretty good relationship with your AD - if he found out you sold it would he offer you any more hot pieces in the future?

Also, getting the chance to replace the black Daytona at retail if you regretted selling it later would be near on impossible I’d imagine.

Tough decision tbf

Bought it a long time ago. It’s really cool but wears a touch small. I do love it. But the new sub is perfect size and fit for me. The Batman doesn’t mean much to me to be honest.

That new WG sub is the most beautiful sub IMO. I can't stop staring at the first pic.

I’d keep the Daytona if at all possible. But, I sympathize with your predicament.

I would do it. Full PM WG Sub is on another level and will wear and feel unique compared to any steel variant.

Have you tried it on ? That will be the decision maker.

Daytona is never an option to go. My biggest regret I ve made in 2018 to let it go and never ever can buy it back at AD.

I would, but not the two you have mentioned. Why add another Sub when you already have two in the collection? At a push I would trade the Sub date and the BLNR, ideally I would trade both Subs for the white gold one. That way you still retain a Sub, GMT and Daytona in the same collection.

I wouldn’t sell my black sub, I wear it for work every day, sometimes my job can be non office based, I love it. Wouldn’t sell the green either as it’s amazing in summer and wouldn’t do that to my dealer.

And I can’t afford to put £20k in with just Batman down. Tough one. I really don’t want to lose the Daytona!

Maybe I just wait! But the itch is there

i would dump the batman without hesitation but i would never get rid of a stainless daytona. Unless you have a path to get another daytona at MSRP, you are at the mercy of the market if you want another one.

I would sell the batman and the new 41mm sub. That should get you around 30k or so. You mentioned wearing the black sub daily, i honestly think you could wear the white gold and nobody would notice. Unless your concern is beating it up, i could understand that.

I’d imagine it will just be the same as my other two but a lot heavier?

You make a good point. Also, worth considering you are losing two to gain one. I did the same (but traded 3 for 1)and although it was for a better watch that I really love, it definitely left a hole in my collection.

What was that trade if you don’t mind me asking?

Why not trade your two subs for this WG sub?

Seems you’d be losing the variety in your collection with the approach outlined. If it were me, I’d want to keep at least one of the Daytona or gmt. Ideally daytona

I wouldn't do it based on losing the Daytona but I am also about to essentially trade 2 watches to get 1 so it's up to you....

Different league to your trades…

Out went a - 2014 Rolex Explorer 2 (Polar), Tudor BB58 (blue) and a Tudor BB chrono.

In came a - BLNR on jubilee.

I don’t regret the trade in any way, but I have a small hole in my collection now as a result.

I think that’s a good trade you did. Saying that, the polar explorer is very nice. Bet you miss that one!

My thinking is that I do it, if it turns out to be a bad decision i could part ex it back for a black Daytona and keep the remaining cash until something else came along. No lose!

I really like them! Forgetting the hype I like them more than the Daytona. The fit and comfort of glidelock is just so good. Especially on holiday

I know you said you wouldn't sell it, but personally I'd sell the 126610LV and the Daytona in a heartbeat for a 126619LB WG Sub. I wouldn't see the point of having two "black-dial-coloured bezel Subs", especially if you're adamant on keeping your 126610LN as well.

I'm also not the world's biggest Daytona fan, plus in real terms you'll be getting far more out of that one in part-ex than you originally put in (assuming you bought it from an AD originally of course).

And I AM a massive fan of the BLNR, so I'd never sell that if I was you (I certainly won't ever be selling mine!), plus it'll retain a bit of variety in your collection instead of 3 Subs.

JMO of course.

Again, you make a good point.

Yes, I miss the Explorer but if I’m being honest it was slightly too big for me.

Should I sell two watches to buy a 126619LB ?

The real question you should ask:
What is so special about the PM sub?

Looks wise not much difference from the new LV plus some hefts. Of course you can argue one is green and one is blue, but my first question still persists

I would pass the offer instead request for a Pepsi/Panda.
That adds more variety to your current collection without burning a hole in the pocket (assume you can get it at retail)

If you really want a PM, go for Platona or JM Daytona, once for all.

Ps: Sorry if making you even more confused

I, perhaps naively, believe it’s relatively easier to replace any Sub versus a stainless Daytona. If you get bored, put it away for a few months.

I've already bought a 116503 Daytona and am freeing up funds from 2 watches I don't wear to cover the costs. No point them sitting in a safe if I haven't worn them more than once in a year or more....

I would do it in a heartbeat, assuming you wouldn't miss the Daytona too much. That 126619LB is incredible on so many levels. It's a massive chunk of white gold on your wrist with a great new case design and a flash of stunning blue. It's so special, and a real watch lover's watch.

Also, from a collection standpoint, sometimes less is more, meaning a two-for-one trade can often be smart and very satisfying. (I'd also probably sell one of your other Subs.)

I find it funny that on so many Daytona threads on this forum, many guys are like "I don't get it," "Such an overhyped watch," "Stupid money being paid for them," etc .... But when a guy suggests trading a Daytona, a lot of guys say, "Oh, no, don't get rid of your Daytona, that's crazy. Anything but the Daytona!"

Platona is essentially not available for most people. Everyone that can be is on the platona band wagon now that it has crossed $120-130k.

Doesn’t matter. Don’t you realise that you don’t have to get a PM watch? It is for Rolex to rip off people’s money only. Do you really think the amount of PM worth the money? Do the maths and research. Check the PM watches resale values too.

From daily practicality, gold watches are softer and more prone to scratches/dents

If you really want a PM jewellery, simple just get a gold bangle
