Well what a great evening it was, the largest forum gtg on record, just the two of us, very romantic, quaffing on good quality Australian red wine beside the Brisbane river, he showed me his and I showed him mine . Seriously though, it was great catching up and talking shop, thanks Steve, a great idea which we must do again and maybe plan it a bit more ahead of time so that we can dig out the other banana bender members that live under the various rocks in this delightful city

Yes, it was a great occasion to meet up with Phil (T5AUS) in Brisbane.

We started off the afternoon meeting on the Boardwalk at a bar/restaurant called "The Canteen".

Started with a beer, in my case James Squires Golden Ale. Then we got a bottle of 2001 Coonawarra Cabernet Savignon that with a bit of age went down a treat.

I then ordered some Tapas and it all went well for discussing the finer aspects of Rolex and Phil's great vintage 5512 and 1675. Both watches exhibit excellent dials and the patina markings are excellent.

After that we had dinner and enjoyed some Morton Bay Bugs or should I say "Bug" as the restaurant was a little light on with the serving of seafood.

Nevertheless, after I complained (as any good lawyer would) the restaurant agreed to charge us for only 1 of the 2 main courses we ordered.

All in all it was a brilliant mini GTG and it was just a pity that there were not more dudes from Brissy to join in, which was their loss as I paid the bill

Yea, and I paid for the evenings parking, which was almost as much as the meal. Brisbane has to be the most expensive cbd parking in the world!, I shall be on my bike next time Steve In the interim, to be better prepaired, I will research a bit on the local restraurant's to see if we cant come up with a better seafood one for the next time you rock up.

Fantastic guys! its been a while since I worked in the CBD up there, so it would be a bit or a guessing game for a choice of restaurant and I can imagine there has been quite a few changes. I always enjoyed a meal on the way home at the Breakky Creek wharf, but I guess thats changed a bit too :-)

I can imagine the parking has skyrocketed, I wont mention the price down here in Syd.

Glad you enjoyed the MB Bug :-) my fave place use to be Morgans on the Redcliffe peninsula, lots of memories there, and Nick at the Golden OX in Margate certainly can put on a good feed of fine cuisine!

Thanks again for sharing Steve, Phil, hopefully one day I can join in

That is horendous, I think you better ride a scotter and park it on the footpath (you know that is legal here in Melbourne).

I don't park in the city often on a weekday, usually catch the train in if I have to go. Scooter sounds like a good idea
