14060M Sub Dent
Looking to purchase this 4-liner 14060M Submariner. Reputable seller but trying to gauge how much to discount off the price for the smallish dent on the upper left lug. See picture attached. Thoughts about how much you would typically discount? How much does a dent of this nature devalue the watch? Do you think laser welding could repair a dent of this kind? The case is in otherwise generally good unpolished condition. Thanks all for the help in advance.

Welcome to the forum. I can't really see it in the pic. Laser welding is an option. Without knowing the purchase price, it would be difficult to come up with a number for a discount. What's your intended use for the watch? If its going to be a daily beater, I wouldn't bother fixing it, and just enjoy it.

Will try to get a closer pic. Thanks for the quick responses. The price is in line for watch only unpolished condition.

Are you going to wear it or put it in a museum. If you wear it you are going to ding it, we all do. If the price is right to you then do it. It’s going to be worth his ask to someone.

You can always have the ding laser welded and removed later. If the price is close, I’d buy it.
We are going to ding them. This 16618 has several dings like this one, when I bought it, unpolished. I’ll have it fixed down the road.

No, I’d pay more for a watch without an issue

Huh? A discount for a sign of wear? What if that blemish was already figured into the price because, after all, why wouldn’t it be?

I would buy a used watch with a few scuffs and light scratches, but not with a dent.

the pic would appear that this is a link that is damaged. if that's the case and it bugs you, why not just get the watch at an appropriate price and then ask an AD to order you a link. problem solved

You shouldn’t be buying an old watch if dents etc bother you.

If it sticks out like a sore thumb and detracts from the watch's overall condition and visual appeal, you can bet that if you were selling it, the grey would knock off the cost of repairs. This should work both ways, at least to an extent. It depends on overall condition, age, price, etc. There are hundreds, maybe thousands of examples up for sale. You should be able to roughly gauge if the price is right for the age and condition.

Will wait for the pics before final opinion; generally if the price is “in line” then nothing to wait for. Unless you have an unpolished pristine safe Queen in your sights. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
