I have a Daytona as my 3rd watch from my AD. Why… I’ve helped him sell over a dozen watches (and some jewelry etc). I was introduced to him by a friend of his and have tried to take care of him like a friend, and when I asked for the long shot Daytona he came through for me. I had never planned on asking for it and didn’t bring him business to get it but it worked out :)

So yes they can appreciate you helping them out, so there is no harm in asking and stil being prepared to wait.

Sorry Buddy but the answer is No,unless you have a really chummy relationship with your SA and he/she is manager. But then you would not ask here.

Nobody needs a customer that onl buy Rolex today. Sad but true. They sell themselves.
If you bought the Blancpain IWC Chopard or Breitling thats been in the case for the last three years for full retail...and got your friends to do the same your chanses would greatly improve.
Toll in some grossly overpriced jewellry on top of that and you should be home safe.
But do the bundle at the same time, No SS No sale

Honestly I would’ve asked within the first couple of watches. I have only bought sports watches and a couple of Tudors , But I have been buying from him since 17. Still I have bought a lot. All I do is check in from time to time And let him know what I am waiting for.

As someone with a love/hate relationship with Rolex and ADs in generally, I say just ask.

I have had good experiences and bad experiences with just asking. I was able to get a Batman after a few years of waiting and searching after i found an SA that both had shared interests, but also bought a few Omegas from them before hand.
Recently I moved and found a new AD and SA, and bought a couple pieces from him, had expressed interest in a few watches and he came through after a few weeks with a Cermit/Starbucks(whatever name it has). All because i asked.
I am still waiting for a DD or Turquoise OP(which is less likely than a DD i feel).

All im saying, the best thing you can do is ask, express interest and see what happens.

2) You have the balls to ASK for the stupid watch. Some cultural differences at play here but where I'm from you sound like a gutless friendzone type whose scared of getting rejected. "Do I deserve a sports model? Haha", just by that title alone you don't deserve it. If I were an AD I'd string you along and leave you hanging too. Not trying to be mean (okay maybe a little) but grow a sack and quit wasting time.

There is no need to be mean and vulgar. Is the OP going to get a stainless Rolex, no he’s probably not. But there is no need to be rude or be a bully towards him.

Your spend history isn’t strong enough for most SS, but I think you might be close depending on your AD. Have an open conversation and ask for a Sub, or DJ, and see what they say. If your BS meter starts going off, the grey prices for those aren’t eye wateringly excessive yet.

Loved living in Singapore, yet to buy timepieces SG is not the best place for someone new. Singapore is not like other countries as there is an abundance of money for many people. So am very sorry to tell you you're odds are very, very low. It sounds to me like they are playing you along to get as much sales from you as they can. Is the AD The Hour Glass or ???

Ask before. Not after.

Too late, the AD figures he’s gotten all he can from you, with no quid pro quo.
Next!!

Maybe a bit blunt, but he’s right - OP going on a website to solicit opinions on whether he should ask for a watch?? Sounds like a mealy mouthed, hand wringing wimp.

youre approaching this the wrong way. AD's are savages. stop sending him so much business without even saying what you really want.

you are setting yourself up for major disappointment if you send him all that business and you wait for the 6th watch to tell him what you want and he says sorry no can do.

i would have told him from day one

It's Singapore, best bet is to bring a few connected family members to buy plenty of jewelry or those in upper authority. My Muse's sister's daughter was dating someone whose family are quite the socialites. They're in a 'different world' than....

OP, am sure you understand.

I think this logic is somewhat flawed and might only apply if you are dealing with a small shop and deal directly with the owner. My understanding is that SA are appreciative of you buy anything they offer you because they are in competition with their colleagues and there are only so few watches to go around. If I didn’t pull the trigger on a couple pieces that are considered hot skydweller SS or DD40 olive dial, most likely another SA would have gotten the commission.
