my main concern is that the watch is not in perfect condition... i know if my mother or wife assessed a watch's condition it would be dramatically different to how i assess it...

His search efforts all took place at location where they went sledding and snowboarding, and those activities presumably were taking place after 12:30 when he took a photo of the watch on his wrist. So how did the watch end up in a snowbank by his mother's cars that he had cleared off before he took the kids sledding and snowboarding?

You have some fair points…

Could it be the case that he was still shoveling snow at 1230? He does not provide a detailed chronological breakdown for his movements that day. He could have headed snowboarding etc later in the afternoon only to discover the missing watch in the early evening.

The story gets more and more interesting. Could the watch in question be a fugazi? Are the Russians involved? Did other family members just find out he dropped a load of cash on an expensive watch when there were bills to be paid etc?

Anyway, OP the ball is in your court.

One can only assume that when he went over to retrieve the watch from his mother, she was miffed that there was insufficient praise and no reward. So a scuffle ensued. Quickly realizing that her 90-pound frame and bad hip put her at a disadvantage, she reached for the snow shovel and swung furiously.

In what could only be described as a "one in a million" shot, the cutting edge of the shovel pierced the OPs exposed jugular, killing him almost instantly.

With a little help from her bridge club (and a less-than-scrupulous snowplow driver) mom was able to properly dilute and drain the blood splatter, and dispose of her son's frozen corpse.

The watch will be listed on DavidSW next week.

Can our North American and European friends confirm whether a Rolex Cosmograph Daytona is safe to wear when shoveling snow?

I wonder if OP tried to build some good will in this community with a completely fabricated story so he could scam a poor buyer at a later date? That would not be the first time I have seen this type of pattern emerge on watch forums.

Starting a thread like this and not coming back to post photos or an update regarding the cause of failure is grounds for a ban as far as I’m concerned lol. He was active in the evening too.

No, and he logged in a month later and never posted a conclusion.

Still no info? I’d like to know what failed, e.g. springbar, clasp etc.

I cannot read this entire thread but interested in why the OP was banned. Was this story a lie?
