What year were SEL introduced on the 16570?

Trying to learn more and do a bit of research before pulling the trigger on the polar 16570.

Does anyone have models / years of production when SEL links were introduced and when Rolex went to the no holes case on this model? Do any of these coincide with the 3186 movement?

Looking forward to joining this club.

Appreciate all the replies! Thanks!

Here's a good article about the evolution of the Explorer II. It looks like the SEL came out between 1997 and 2003.

Model: 16570?

Around 2000 the SEL's were introduced to the Exp II. Rolex never did anything by serial number. There is likely overlap with the serial prefixes being released during that year.

Through holes cases were gone by about 2003, so that is well before the 3186 was put in, which occurred after 2005

I think you can find SELs on late A-Serial models (circa 2000, maybe a very late 1999).
