Trade 116519LN for 228239 WG

I am contemplating trading my 116519LN for a 228239 WG (grey/slate dial).

It is a straight trade no cash. I know the 116519LN is trading high at the moment.

Any thoughts on moving from the 116519 to the DD?

I'd do that trade. The Day-date is such a great watch IMO.

I like em both. Tough call for me because I’m chasing a 515/505 so I know they are tough to come by, ANY OysterFlex Daytona.

But outside of that full PM versus a rubber strap watch I’d say absolutely do that trade. IMO you gotta determine 2 things.

Which do you like most. Number 1 most important

Secondly which one is the toughest to replace.

Good luck. On the bright side you’ll have an amazing watch either way.

Yep 100% I'd do that.

The Daytona on OF compared to a full president bracelet is like night and day.

Plus the DD has complications thats actually useful and personally I hate watches without at least a date on it.

As I said at the outset, refreshing the collection. I really like the 519 but have the opportunity to get a 228239. I lurk each day, and appreciate people's perspective on if it makes sense.

I think the DD is trading high at the moment, just this time last year you could order any DD even olive dials and rumors are you'll be able to do it this year. No way would I ever trade a Daytona for a DD, MUCH harder to get.

Trade 116519LN for 228239 WG

It's good trade if they are in the same condition.

MSRP for D-D is about $10k more than Daytona OF.

Interesting. What is the trade value being given to you for the Daytona?

I did something similar (SS Daytona for a WG DD rhodium). I’m glad I did the trade, as the Daytona was too small for me and find the DD so special with the president bracelet and fluted bezel.

My only suggestion is to be sure you want the slate dial. I have recently traded mine in for the blue romans and couldn’t be happier. I found the rhodium a little boring, as there’s limited contrast between the dial and the case/bracelet.

Best of luck in your decision.

Interesting. Thank you for the input. It is a tough decision. I am taking the weekend to work through it. Both are great pieces.

Good point on the lack of contrast. My question is, can he take it to RSC and have the dial swapped to blue romans if he wants? If that is allowed, slate dial is not a bad option as it comes cheaper. But I am not sure if RSC does that.

On the trade OP, I would do it.

I would never trade such a superb Daytona for a white gold day-date president
One has a million dollars look…and the other of a stainless steel Datejust.
