Lag time between AD buys?

Owned and daily worn a Rolex 30+ years, mostly an old Sub, and far less, an early 16750.

Last AD purchase was 10 years ago, for my wife.

Lately, I learned (Late Learner) about the wait lists, when I went in to look at a new Sub, and learned they had none for sale.

So, in January, I got on the wait list for a Sub no-date.

That led to this forum and learning about the current market.

My “collection” consists of two watches and I’m never going to be a collector or flipper. It was just time to semi-retire the vintage watches and buy a new one.

For those of you who have experienced these waits, did a long lag time equate to “no history” with your AD?

Is 10 years the same as no history-even though I’m in their computer?

It might be a good starting point for a discussion with your AD and to show you're not a flipper, but yes in this current market 10 years is probably equal to no history.

It’s like no history since the SA is probably gone, if not then maybe. Express your interest at multiple ADs and you may be surprised with a call before you know it, regular Subs are very common.

What part of the country are you in? The big cities seem harder to crack but i do hear of exceptions.

Honestly, it is dealer dependent and rep dependent.

But your relationship is with the store. So you need walk in there, show your Rolexes to whoever will listen that you bought those rolexes there and tell them you'd like new ones.

You've been a loyal customer for decades not a sheep in the madness of the last 5 years.

I haven't bought a watch from AD in 5 years and they treat me like I've got no purchase history. So 10 years definitely.

I went 11 years between major purchases and they treated me like and old friend. Wanted something new, and they made it happen. Obviously every AD is different.

You got a lot of pluses going for you. Previous, although dated history (not a flipper). Watch lover as you were around years ago. Be patient, I can see it happening sooner than later for you
