How to report a Rolex AD?

Hi guys,
Does anyone know how to report a Rolex AD?
An AD (listed on the Rolex website) just tried to sell me a submariner 124060 for double the retail price.

And no it wasn’t used. It was brand new stock that they had.
When I challenged them about it, he put it away and said: ‘lots of people want the watch, if you want it you must pay more’.

This is in a developing country I’m visiting with this as the only AD.

My impression, having read a number of reports from TRF’ers all over the world, is that the rules for pricing are looser outside the US & UK. YMMV

AD is the owner of the watch and determines the price.
MSRP is a suggested retail price.

In more ‘developed’ countries they openly ask you or suggest you to bundle which is basically the same.

The AD is trying to maximize his profit instead of handing over a couple of thousand to a potential flipper. Surely you can understand that

Rolex doesn’t allow ADs to sell above MSRP, this is in the AD contract. They may be legally permitted in their country to ignore this and sell above retail, but if they do Rolex can and will terminate their AD status.

Like most all retail things today they have a suggested or recommend price so in theory the retailer could charge what he likes.

Reporting them, if that’s even a thing, won’t change your situation. I’d move on.

It’s not really about my situation. I’m not that bothered, but everyone turning a blind eye to these dodgy dealings is what has partially led to this current situation with Rolex

Where is that?

Even if MSRP is suggested, ADs usually follow that.

that's how the rolex watch market works nowadays. you can't change it, either accept it or move on to other brands. rolex wouldn’t believe you anyway if you report to them.

To answer your question. I think an email to Rolex HQ with as much detail as possible would suffice. It probably won’t change anything immediately but if enough people complain maybe something will happen. Interesting to see what Rolex response would be.

Just another reason to push Rolex owned boutiques

The ‘suggestion’ avoids accusations of price fixing.

The understanding however is ADs charge what Rolex says or they cease to be ADs

In my experience, this is not an unusual practice in some parts of the world, perhaps especially in central Asia. In some cases, the dealer offering a watch at higher than MSRP is in fact the local Rolex distributor, so I doubt very much that Rolex frowns on the practice, at least as practiced there.

Personally, if I want a watch and it’s not available at MSRP I would rather purchase it from a dealer rather than a reseller.

Seeing as it’s not your local AD or anything I’d just name them here and move on. It’s not uncommon. Raffi in Toronto use to sell over msrp. Not sure if they stopped as I haven’t bought from them in a few years.

Sorry cannot believe that any official AD even in the UK would ask twice the suggested retail price for any Rolex watch.

…I went to an AD in India, where the manager has a WhatsApp group where he sells watches to the highest bidder!

Yes, the first and easiest way to attain your stated objective (not turning a blind eye to dodgy dealings) is to name the AD here.

Once you name the AD, then people on TRF who are better versed in the consumer regulations of that Country can provide guidance on next steps.

The AD was Regency watches in Kathmandu, Nepal.

In the region, going to climb Everest…of course my Rolex Explorer is the companion of choice!

I'd just enjoy the experience and forget about the AD in that case. The whole thing will seem pretty irrelevant from the roof of the world.

PS, I'd have taken a Smiths
